Don't understand how these guys who owe everyone money are able to buy multiple horses for $100,000 or more.
Do they do credit checks?
What happens to the horses when the money isn't paid?

broodmare / potential broodmare sale was insane this week

horses who did nothing on the track sold for amounts that exceeded their yearling prices, some by lots

it was nuts!

I was thinking the same thing.  Are they just anticipating yearling prices to continue to rise?  I feel like half this sale will never get close to making a profit.

they believe they can breed them all to Walner and sell the first 2 foals for 300 - 500k each

any hiccup to the economy or any states taking away funds the magic carpet ride will get bumpy

too many people made too much money in the stock market and need tax write-offs THIS YAR

and just because you have a great conformation, former high priced yearling doesn't mean they'll get in foal every year or not have a foal with a crooked leg or badly toe out

I had one sell a high priced yearling then she went 3 years without catching

but hey, party on folks!

agreed, some prices were astounding, you have little chance of breaking even
i guess the good news is that  for a lot of the buyers this is just play money
and a lot of breeders made a killing so best buy some broodmares rather than pay taxes to the government
