Title: Red Mile casino closed
Post by: jupiter on January 24, 2021, 04:21:24 PM
Red Mile might be fucked, Ky Supreme Court says slots unconstitutional. Casino closed till further notice. Hopefully the legislature will change what ever they need to do or all that money they were rolling in will be gone.

Yes, I find it a little strange, the other 3 slot venues in Kentucky are staying open, including Churchills new venue in Northern Kentucky that was built in a Strip mall about 8 miles from Turfway Park, it only opened 3 months ago.

It's not the Red Mile it's a Casino they part own with Keeneland in Downtown Lex.  The machines in question are  called historical horse racing machines, use horse races that have already been run to generate random numbers determining payouts to players. They look, sound, and play almost identical to slot machines. The Supreme Court ruling said that several aspects of how the machines are operated are not in accordance with the state’s definition of “pari-mutuel wagering.”
