Title: NZ's best trainer quitting training on January 2021
Post by: TimTimTimbo on November 15, 2020, 08:40:46 PM
Mark Purdon and Natalie Rassmussen.

Maybe they are coming over here for a trip as I know they has been here a couple of times and wants very much to race horses up here.

The property is being turned over to Hayden Cullen who will run it and keep most of the employees. Purdon will help them when necessary and continue to buy horses for his owners to be trained by Cullen.

They are workaholics and it has finally got to them so are taking at least a 12 month break.

So far there are no rumors that they have done anything wrong as people will naturally think when they see someone so successful, hang it up. I know people who I have talked to say they work their asses off and it is no longer fun running the stable.

Purdon will still drive at some meetings in major races.

He gave his owners six weeks notice according to the letter.  Some are going to be very unhappy.  Wonder how many of the Allstars will wind up here?  John Curtin will be real busy middlemanning them and we do have a shortage of class horses.
