When I read that, it gave me data that made me more comfortable with kids going back to school, which was your concern in your previous post.

Slimshady I donīt know where you got the data but not quite right, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics of which my sister is a member, As of the 7/30 summary of child mortality data from 5/21-7/30 (44 states reporting and NYC)
A. cumulative total deaths (all ages) 133,267
B. cumulative total child deaths 86
C. percent children of total death .06%
D. percent of child cases resulting in death. .03%
The other thing people fail to look at is the hospitalization data from 5/21-7/30 (20 states reporting and NYC) (numbers for other states not available)
A cumulative total (all ages) hospitalizations 195,106
B cumulative child hospitalizations 2669
C percent of total hospitalizations 1.4%
D Hospitalizations 2%
Agree they are at a much lower risk but it is still a risk. We do not know the long term effects of this virus either. I find it a bit troubling that the hospitalization rate is 2% of the total. These are published facts. Remember asbestos was a wonder product, how many died from it many years later..

In the simplest terms, Can you drive a car without having your eyes tested, can you drive a semi without a CDL . NO! Can you purchase liquor for an underage person? Ya, if ya want to get arrested. If you believe that this country is ready to completely open you are either stupid or naive, this shit spreads and if your idea is we should all just get over it, pretty much thats what we have been doing and the deaths keep going up 1000 a day. (no personally of a person that died of a heart attack and was ruled covid and never was tested, just had symptoms related to covid -- and everything else )

Take whatever data you like, our children are at a minute risk of death from covid. We'll never see it, but we could probably argue, their risk of death is greater being out of school than in it. You don't drown or get hit by a car when you are in class. I just think school is a very important piece of a child's development and that outweighs any benefit from keeping them home from school until there is zero risk from covid. Human life is risky with or without covid, but we all choose to live it.

It is a virus. You can hide under your bed as long as you like , but at some point you are going to get exposed.keep your immune system up as best you can so your body can fight it. If you are waiting for a vaccination then I suggest you do some research on first wave vaccines The side effects are generally harder on your body than the disease

A six month warp speed process that Fauci said even if it is 50% effective. That kids K-12 must be given a vaccine to return to school? Same with people of color. Because most of these trials are done with middle aged white people. Just inquiring because teachers are at the point no school till a vaccine. Will it morph into no school till every kid gets a shot. Ni matter what potential longterm side effect may come about.

What I see is:
(1) kids possibly infecting their parents or grandparents by Possibly being exposed at school, and
(2) other side effects the kids are getting from this virus, multisystem inflammation syndrome, (MIS-C) is 1 example, some of which could show up later in life.
I dont think we know enough about this virus yet, unfortunately.

Every kid has to have vaccines to got to school now: (these are MANDATED by states boards of education)
1. diptheria, tetanus, whooping cough,(pertussis)
2. Polio
3. measles, mumps, rubella
4. chicken pox
5. flu vac (each yr)
I am not saying close schools till all vaccinated, use common sense to openings. Masks are not a political statement, they are common sense at this point. There are hundreds of med professionals who say use masks to each one that says they donīt work. By the way a 7yr kid died from covid in Ga yesterday. Fla has had 7 minors die, last month a 9 yr old girl with no underlying conditions died, the youngest in the state. Kids are NOT immune from this.

Dingus I think most schools ended when everything ended? To say the kids at the time brought it home and infected parents and grandparents? Kids weren't even on the radar at the time being infected. Much so it was how kids didn't get infected unlike past viruses we have seen decimate kids. Unless, I understood you wrong? I took both teenagers to the pediatrician and asked her opinion on a warp speed vaccine and her thoughts on any new vaccine she wouldn't recommend for kids for five years? Just one medical profession opinion. I'm not a anti-vaxxer my kids get their shots they get a flu shot. My wife is a HS counselor and gets a flu shot. I just don't see how they mandate this off the bat every kid k-12 has to have it to return. First off the 6-8 months time to develop a vaccine on a changing virus, trials at a small sample size then what would be required in a normal time 2-5 years, the ones being tested are NOT kids, blacks, or browns. How comfortable should people be taking this? Fauci says he is fine with a 50% effective rate when a vaccine comes about. What the hell does 50% effective rate really mean? Yes Jupiter kids are mandated to those vaccines for many reasons but it's not required to have a flu shot. We live with 4 other corona viruses. While kids yearly are sick just from a bacteria flu. Not sure how educators can say we are not going back to live teaching until a vaccine is made...when made will the goal post move we are not going back till every k-12 student all 56mln are vaccinated.
