A TIP OF MY FEDORA TO BILL ON HIS NOMINATION TO BE A MEMBER OF THE CANADIAN HORSE RACING HALL OF FAME. TELL ANDREW COHEN TO KISS YOR ASS AND SMELL YOUR GAS.
YOU HAVE ADDED MORE TO HARNESS RACING THAN ALL OTHERS COMBINED, YOU RACED TO WIN AND FOR SOME REASON THAT PISSES A LOT OF THE HIGHER BRASS OFF. YOU WERE A MAN WHO WAS ON THE LEADING EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY AND FOR THAT WE ARE GRATEFUL.
I WILL BE THERE LIVE AND IN COLOUR FOR YOUR ADMISSION
DID I SAY FUCK ANDREW COHEN?
WHO THE FUCK DO HE THINK HE BE, EH?
-
Bill Robinson should be banded from racing for life, plus anyone who nominated him should be banded for 10 years
-
can someone give a brief version of the storey
he was on top , than suspended , then has been back for 10 or 15 years training about 2 horses a year
but others who get suspended come back or get beards, what was the deal with bill???
-
The most famous Chemist in Canadian sport history.
Owners and trainers stopped by with their horses on the way to the track. (just to say hello)
He made a dirty fortune before his career delaying suspension.
He's back with the same training skill, but not the chemical support.
His win % seems to be a little lower.
I'm sure there are many horsemen he cheated out of purse money in the day, that will feel pretty bitter about this nomination. Time doesn't change history.

"The most famous Chemist in Canadian sport history."
The best Robinson story I heard, took place in the 80's. Bill was racing in the afternoon at Meadowlands, and later that evening at Mohawk.
He and his driver left Newark Airport on a plane destined for Toronto...a 2 hour trip. They had no luggage, just carry on stuff. Bill put his attache case in the overhead bin for the flight.
They were in the air for about 10 minutes, when the plane hit some bad turbulence....... ..causing a few of the overhead bins to open...........in cluding the one that had Bill's case in it. The case fell on the airplane floor......opened up...... and 2 bottles inside his case...broke open, and spilled on the carpet on the airplane floor.
The plane arrived in Toronto.......1 hour ahead of schedule

eyeinthesky ... LOL
Only the best, good or bad, have jokes created about them.
-
bill was a nice guy......but vicious when it came to taking every edge to win races. he somehow started sending horses to compete at the meadowlands to monty gelrod and carl conte at showplace farm. both likable but monte, literally could not assemble an empie harness out of the box. those horses were loaded for bear and that's the way they raced. like wild horses out of the Canadian wilderness.

Hopefully, this cheating sob will get no further than the nominating stage!

The way I heard the story was that although they got there 1 hour early , it took another 2 hours for the plane to come down.

Vinnie
Good post
I'll add it ..the next time I tell this story
-
Only met him 1 time.
Sent him a horse to train. A week later he contacted me, asking me to come get the horse. When I arrived he told me there was nothing he could do to improve that horse. I thanked him for trying, and asked what I owed for the week. He said nothing, since he didn't help me at all.

Children, please.
My heeeeeeeeb friends on this worthless forum, Unable to Earn and Bernie Made Off With the Dough, tell me to go easy on tribe members. The Maywood Midget says ATC is a decent guy. And I have been easier on Jewffrey although he doesn't deserve it and never will.
But I draw the line at Andrew Cohen. This hook nosed scumbag has reappeared after we had him run off. He is the lowest of the lowest. Remember it all started because he owned 2% of that rat with Linda Toscano that Pena destroyed. So Cohen was the one who started "da shit." He's a no-good, jealous, know-nothing mother fucker.
And you don't have to take my word for it. None other than another heeb, this time the most impressive, Marty Adler, has said it all in HRU. Read it. Cohen needs to slither back under whatever stale matzo ball he's been living under. Until next time, Zionists......... .......HEIL HITLER!!

Im at greenwood one night 30 yes ago..3 or 4 guys together..i believe bill was one...heard one of them say something about 'morphine tongue tie'....i was relatively new to game then..anybody heard of that?
-
I've met Bill a few times. Nothing but a nice guy. Completely unlike the clownshows of recent where guys show up out of no where and are better than Billy Haughton, Bill had big stables and moved (almost) everything forward.
I don't think he did anything that wasn't being done by 100 other guys... and compared to now.. Hay and Oats!!!
Again back at Greenwood I sitting in the dining room with 3 other guys and Bill is walking towards the table so I ask him to sit down for a drink and he does. We were all just shooting the breeze and after Bill finishes his drink he leans over and says his horse in the 8th he has him right now and let the guys know. The horse was at the Meadowlands with Gelrod and did nothing so Bill shipped him back and went to work on him and the horse was off 2 weeks. Condren was driving and left off the wings from the 6 hole and was never headed the whole mile, won opening up mid stretch. Best price I ever got on a Robinson horse 16.80

"I don't think he did anything that wasn't being done by 100 other guys... and compared to now.. Hay and Oats!!!"
He was the biggest cheat of all time and because of that, no one really knows how good a horseman he really was, if at all.
When a big star gets caught in other sports, they cease to exist.
Lance Armstrong Sammy Sosa Marion Jones
In SB racing, they have nominated him for the Hall of Fame.
It's embarrassing.
-
should a miracle happen and the most brazen chemist of all horsetime get put in, I wonder which son will induct him..the one with the fines and suspenion past or the one with fines and suspension past
((first thing they teach you as a parent: lock the medicine cabinet)))
-
I for one have cashed many bets using Robinsons horses, the man is a winner and I think that he should be a HOF member before that POS Andrew Cohen. Cohen is a member of the Fake News Member who slants articles to whether he or his horses win at the track on the weekend;
HRU has lost all credibility with me for letting A*Hole Cohen write articles for them
-
"HRU has lost all credibility with me for letting A*Hole Cohen write articles for them."
Don't know him, so can't confirm if he is an ahole or not, but he is right on about Robinson.
Happy you cashed some tickets, but there were honest trainers, fighting for their livings, chasing his strung out horses around the track.
If they put him in any hall of fame, they better keep an eye on his photo. Someone will mess it up.
I may go tape a syringe on it !!!

Follow up to slimshady.
Robinson and fam cheated hundreds of times...just like hundreds of other north american harness trainers..all of it: repulsive dirty and grounds for permanent barring.
Obviously he shouldn't be anywhere near a hall of fame of any kind.
Like slimshady posed: the financial damage done by racing 'honestly' is immeasureable.
*Whether it was a juiced robinson horse that got to the front first and strung and hung your 'honest' horse out, giving you a hay money purse fifth..and robinson's horse a hanging on for second, healthy chunk of the pie..or maybe it was his horse coming on late for third while your honest steed left in fourth dust.
*Whether it was freshfaced owners new to the game w/ $$$$money to buy in strong and picking "top of the standings" trainer robinson over you or your brothers clean training operation, eventually sending you out the door.
*Whether it was oft penalized Robinson being unchecked handing his stock to 'naive' sons to 'watch over' during his absense..sure
*Whether it was robinson whispering at a table of 3 or 4 that i have gelrod horse now and itll be coming home as 16 dollar winner.shhh...unb enounced to thousands of other wagerers..and to many other 'honest' horsemen who are in that race ..missing both bigger chunk of purse, lowering their training percentage(thus lessening potential clients from signing on). Clearly honesty in the backstretch is for suckers.
We know this game: back then and now...a devastating cutthroat cruel hardass business that nice guys have no chance.
Robinson is one of those training pioneers. So many of harness racing's 'most wanted' list, that list of cheating dirty trainers, that could hang in the local post office, next to photos of kidnappers of missing children and criminal illegal aliens. They're all in same pot. Slime.

Barry Bonds Roger Clemens and Mark McgWire will NEVER get in the HOF because of PEDS BUT Bill Robinson will, Joke right.
EPO positive and several more positives that were all performance enhancement. He might be a nice guy and maybe people have forgotten his history but all his achievements should be noted with an asterisk * beside it because his horses were not clean.
He is that guy that when a horse changed barn to his they went off at even money and dropped by 4 seconds within a week. The first Lou Pena.
-
Duke I don’t think he ever got an EPO
Positive
Do you know what his positives were for ?
-
The best Big Bill betting bonanza thwt a few cashed big on was Dreamfair Vogel first start Robinson from Jason Libby. The horse grew an extra leg, absolutely crushed and paid over $50 to win. Summer of 2002 I believe.
-
I had him...Randy driving.
-
Yes sir, a Saturday night, a great night indeed

Bill Robinson received over 10 positives in his career-leading up to the last big one-a tCO2-where they nailed him with a 5 year suspension and 100,000$ fine!
Then he came up with Ephedrine in his latest comeback-so he is now retired.
IMHO most of the positives he received were therapeutic positives which should have resulted in fines only--but since he was highly successful -jealous mfers-threw the book at him.
Shame because IMHO-even if he used 0 drugs-he would still have been able to out train 99% of the Competition-he was that good.
Bit like Lance Armstrong-you wont convince me that Lance was not a great cyclist. Ive read books on him and in there physiologists have said that Armstrong was by far the best athlete they ever tested-and that was without the drugs. Its a real shame he took them and will forever tarnish his name.
-
bond, you bring up an interesting point
its not the great ones that need the drugs, it is the mediocre and losers that use them so they can compete
but then the good trainers or cyclists see they are getting beat by guys they should not be
if Armstrong was the best and no one else was taking drugs why would he, but clearly he felt they had a big enough impact on other riders so he decided he must as well to keep up
I am not suggesting the same scenario exists in harness racing but think about, some guy who has been training for 20 or more years doing it the right way has his horses getting thumped by some guy who has trained for a year and never sits in a jog bike, wtf are they supposed to do , lose their living , likely the only thing they know how to do
and then it just multiplies from there
remember every sprinter in the Olympic gold medal race where ben Johnson got caught was on steroids, because they had to be !!

I read your ideas in an article that included
"Well, she's almost a virgin."
"Well, she's just a little bit pregnant."
Once a cheat, always a cheat.

"Shame because IMHO-even if he used 0 drugs-he would still have been able to out train 99% of the Competition-he was that good."
How was he going to out train 99% of the competition? What magical horse skills did he have besides the best juice.
Next you'll be telling me that Menary should go into the HOF next year.
-
All these losers try and be chemists....most are to stupid. Big Bill pushed the envelope, that's for sure. He never sat on his laurels. Every day he tried to be a better trainer, make his track better, tried different equipment...he did things hos way and wasn't afraid to try new things. He did what ever it took to win a race....gas and all. At least as a bettor you know what you were getting. I remember that Dreamfair Vogel night, horse was awesome.....blew it all at the rippers. That year was by far the greatest collection of 3 yr olds in one stable ever.

loved the quote from david anderson in cohens article the same anderson whose horse was caught with needles in retention barn tactor was trainer but they let the horse race anderson ceo of wegat time
