OHIO TRACKS CLEAN UP,,,OTHER MIDWEST TRACKS

RUN TO THE FLORIDA BEACHES

Post by: horses first on October 14, 2018, 07:57:21 PM: Hawthorne does, it's thoroughbred and harness. Ohio has 4 tracks or casinos to funnel money at each. Hoosier would have to lower purses to go another 4.5 months to pay purses. Not even the slots can be a pay for, you need wagering on the races, and there is the big elephant in the room. Nobody wagers anymore. 400k-500k handle does nothing to build purses. Decades old problem you know that Roc.

Purses cut to shreds. top level claimers would be $4,000, bottom level $1,000. 4 and 5 horse fields, so everybody would get a massive check. I will write my congressman immediately.

Post by: Winners Win on October 14, 2018, 09:15:08 PM: I think tracks should adjust their schedules to create continuous racing opportunities for horsemen. It would definitely help with the horse shortage. Example. why does hawthorne and running aces compete for horses? If they staggered their schedules they wouldn't have too. Hoosier and Hawthorne share a lot of horsemen. Maybe they could make each others schedules work.

Post by: horses first on October 14, 2018, 10:22:08 PM: W Win Hawthorne is locked in because of the flats but if Arlington closes down in a year or two without getting any added gaming or revenue, then may be a change. Running Aces, I believe gets the Cal Expo crowd when they close and I'm sure they want the nice weather during the summer. Not a meet that goes into fall and winter when crowds shrink. That's my guess with Aces. More so the Cal Expo crowd.
