Title: Rule Changes USTA
Post by: Trott on October 09, 2018, 09:44:20 PM
Once again, many tweaking of existing rules.  And, once again not one change that addresses the welfare of the only essential part of this sport, the horse.  The sport could live without professional trainers...it could live without professional drivers, but it couldn't live without the horse.  So where are the rule changes that permanently remove trainers that drug their horses?  Where are the rule changes that limit the number of races a 2 yo can race?  Where are the rule changes that give the horse 5% of what they win towards their retirement?  Okay Ploppers....pile on, I can take it.

Please keep in mind that the USTA has NO regulatory power over any pari mutual racetrack. The tracks are state controlled. Except Gural of course,HE controls the New Jersey racing commission. So it really doesn't matter WHAT they "propose". And besides, WHY would they go against their "leaders"?

I stand tall with you, my Friend  *  I've lost plenty over time shutting down an over-raced or hurt racer.  Retiring a horse that had eagerly pleased over and over.  So, I agree whole heartedly that just because they can't write out their suggestions, the horses should have an advocate to look out for them.  The disregard for welfare and the greedy, dishonest, brutal cheaters using anything and everything to squish every last pace outta these great athletes is sickening.  This most recent suspension and light fine of $10,000 for the discovery of fentanyl in a horse is a farce.  This guy and his family should've been dispatched to anywhere, at long as it's away from the tracks.  Thanks for the decent perspective, TROTT

Hey, CowPone....if having respect and empathy for the real heroes in this sport makes me a snowflake, then so be it.  By the way, how many horses have you driven or shod...how many yearlings have you broke?
