Harness racing in Indiana continues it's rapid descent into harness hell. :'(
In Tuesday's 7th race another no decision after a long Inquiry into an obvious infraction.
Sam Widger leaves with #6 Lakeview Avery and drops 2nd behind #2 Toms Power Chip with Bruce White.
Brandon Bates leaves with #9 Kai Matthew and drops 4th into the first turn with the 1st qt going in 27.4
Bates then pulls 1st over before the 5/16's as White backs down the pace in a 30.0 second qt.
Bates gets 3/4's of the way up on drunk ass Widger who pops the pocket into Bates forcing him 3 wide!
This was 10 times worse than what Warren pulled and there was no doubt at the otb that Widger was coming down.
The worst stewards in harness racing show the Inquiry replay from 4 different angles many times. 84zac.1
In fact they would rewind and replay over and over again. angbk
This took a very long time as Inquiries go but it seemed obvious the only driver interfered with by Widger was Bates.
So placing Widger behind Bates seemed a no brainer and should have taken 10 seconds. tmbz1
Then Steve Cross comes on and says "stewards find no violation the results stand!"
Unfucking real! 63z.uzi
Lester Raber who owns the #9 should sue the stewards for dereliction of duty. 91zxa.1
This is another dangerous move by a driver that goes unpunished while the crybabies moan how dangerous the sport is and claim these crackheads are risking their lives out there on the track. 43z.stf
The whiners need to shut up about how dangerous harness racing is when the drivers clearly don't care and the stewards have no intention of holding any horseman accountable for their actions. 43z.stf
Harness racing is becoming like Quarter Horse racing at Los Al. 11.wp
No blood, no foul. 11.dt

So you lost your 2 bucks is what you’re saying?

Eh. Tbh, stewards blow at almost every track. Can't think of one in either breed where they are really good. Maybe NYRA but that's about it. Had a bad beat a few weeks ago at Del Mar. Gary Stevens on a horse came out 6-7 paths under heavy left handed urging, crashes into a horse ridden by Flavian Prat who was maintaining straight line. Beaten by a nose and stewards ruled 2-1 that it didn't affect the outcome. Probably one of the worst calls I've seen in years.

You lose all credibility once you call them stewards.

I know there will be no shortage of posts telling me I'm wrong but doesn't this sound like what Pennsylvania's Racing Board pulled?

How screwed up is this shit? 11.dt
"Violation was treated as one with previous ruling #18058HOP because of timing of notification"? 94z.sm
One more reason Hoosier is a shithole....oops I mean safe haven for cheating horsemen. 91zxa.1
Wonder who was responsible for the "timing problem" and who decided a slap on the wrist was enough? 11.dt

It stops the various racing commissions from "stockpiling" positive tests in order to obtain a harsher penalty. When the commission is notified of a positive test, they are supposed to notify the person with the positive test and set a hearing.

Bettors are ALWAYS the last to know anything in harness racing. ;D ;D

I'm not sure how stockpiling would work?
Multiple offenses that have independent penalties would still have the same effect whether the days were added together or doled out separately.
And multiple positives for the same drug could have a higher penalty for each additional offense but again the total days wouldn't change, whether they are served one offense at a time or consecutively.
-
IF a trainer is using a drug too close to a race and gets a positive for it, it is considered only one positive test. IF NO ONE tells him he has a positive for that drug, and he continues to use the drug in such a fashion, he would accrue multiple positive tests. IF he is told he has a positive, one would be pretty foolish to continue to use that drug the same way. AND IT IS against the rules for racing commissions to do so. At least in every state I ever raced in.
