Florida’s winter racing capital of the world closes its 2017-2018 meet with a whimper. Nine five-horse fields and a 6 and a 7. Would think the RC could have found a more competitive format to engage 58 entries, like 8 races with 7 and 8 horses and higher purses. One last shot for the Ingrahams, Hennesseys, and other regulars to add a few quid to their account. Nothing from MickM on the final night—what gives?

As the track has been sloppy many times this month
They are better off using that purse money to raise the purses during the winter to incentivize more people to come down here and race
The horse population down here last few years has been very weak all throughout the meet
And what is your obsession with Jews? Are you mad they have more money than you?
Do you have to mow a Jewish persons lawn?
Did a Jewish person forget to tip you?

The stock and horsemen still running are mostly the locals. What's so bad about running 8-9 cards for $50k a card to support the locals? These are the same people, by the way, who are there to run the first few weeks of the meet.

All that is left here is mostly locals
A few decent barns left that ship down that’s it
If they ever want racing to return to how it was 3 or 4 years ago they need to raise the purses for the bigger barns to want and come down
Being honest a trainer with 30 isn’t gonna want to have two operations in Florida and up north it’s too much
But a big barn would manage with a second trainer
Plus these guys don’t want to come down here and race against baking soda filled horses for such low purses
They got all pissed off this year that people who wanted to qualify were denied because they didn’t want to race their horses there for their first start
First off they can’t even roght the conditions
Second they don’t want to race against horses that aren’t tested

It seems like you guys are missing the point! Pompano Park is the most poorly run track in history. They have lied and cheated the horsemen so many times that nobody can possibly believe anything they say. As the capital of winter racing, they could do so much with the opportunity that's been afforded, instead they continue to operate with a cast of characters that couldn't be baggers at Walmart! Sadly it appears that the current owners are content to stand by and let the process deteriorate until the disfunction becomes terminal and it will be impossible to continue!
