the biggest day of the year in maine and there was no toteboard and the self use tote machines dont work and the place is falling apart. over the years the downs has collevted over 10 million dollars and they have done nothing with it. we all need to get behind the cianchete plan that goes nefore the commission in november.
-
The horseman in maine have to hope and pray Scarborough downs closes or racing will b fine in maine it's a great thing that someone wants to step up and take over
-
how was the track today ?
-
What is the ciancette plan?
-
he wants to build a track south of portland. he is going to apply for 40 racing dates at cumberland next year and if he is approved he will build a track. its a great opportunity for maine racing.
-
5/8, 7/8, or mile track?
-
if you go on the maine hha facebook page there is a video of the horsemen meeting with the guy on wednesday. he seems like the real deal.
-
Good luck hope you guys get a new oval
-
Sorry don’t see the video on the Facebook, page
-
im on my phone and i had to scroll down. its from october 9 and it says that katie flaherty was live. look for a blue jacket.

no toteboard and the sam machines not working shocking. hopefully all in attandance gets their shots soon. maine med full of patrons that ate there today. never mind another track scarborough needs more money. 10 or 20 milllion more. at least the road in past the projects was paved. if the downs takes ebt they will rake in the money with the projects filled. racing was very good today. congrads to all the winners on maines big day. actually a good crowd for the downs today.

Maine's best track....the way racing should be
-
actually think windsor fair is currently the best track that has a meet. downs track is good one day hard as a rock the next, real bad when it rains hard. windsor is greasy in rain though, but otherwise very good.

When the Ricci guy owned the place... he would’ve paid off the entire Legislature to get a Casino in that place. Now.... they can just sit back and watch it close. Word has it, back in the day, they would FILL that place, esp on weekends. Now you say there isn’t even a working tote board the day of the Stakes Finals??? Kind of like watching an NFL GAME.. a MLB game... with no scoreboard??!!!! Why bother guys....
-
Ricci got things done. Very sad when the track fell into others hands. Joe kept things nice not matter what had to be done
-
joe had his problems. not exactly the best, but he did in his own way try to run the track to get people and horses there. his wife has run it into the ground. bled every penny she could out of it. gets a million a year from casino money just to open. all gets paid to herself or daughter. the few workers are all min wage. even after joe died some crowds came for the night races. when the lights were taken out, the summer beach crowd were gone too. hope that the cumberland plan thats been talked about comes to life and with some night races. even a 630 pm start in the summer would give people on vacation the day out before the races.
-
LOL Cumberland not the answer would not handle $1,500 per card in the middle of nowhere the answer is keep Scarborough open tell new track is built very simple if these guys don't get sports betting you won't even be able to find them LOL
-
cumberland actually out handled scarborough, not counting stakes final day. 30000 on saturday and sunday. scarborough 17000 on sunday. cumberland even has a working toteboard, and could open the resturant/clubhouse. it will be better than scarborough until a new track is built.
