Saratoga Race 2, #1 Cushing, #2 Bailey, 1 parking the 2 visciously and they're jammering in each others face 98za.ag before the 1/2 mile pole. ngc3
-
Cushing won the race. Got his horse going and did not want to grab him. Leon should have taken the 2 hole.

Once Bailey committed there was no hole.
But Cushing's cockhole was wide open, screaming all kinds of shit before the finish line! tmbz1

Reminded me, on a 'MUCH' smaller scale obviously, of the Art Official - SBSW Where they were three wide like that. Yannick backed off in that race. I disagree, could have taken a seat. If he had kicked it a little harder, could have cleared initially. THese cowboys getting hung,
then fighting is a bit much. Fun sure , but fine em hard.Actually a good winning drive by Cushing.
-
Been parked a few times, sometime it gets personal and ya gotta straighten it out quick. But wait till ya ge to the locker room.

Bottomed the field out w2w 1:59.0 (31.2), true, great drive and best horse. Wow, some horrible racing overall. I can't stand 1/2 mile track racing.

Josh Marks got days for pointing the whip and taunting past the wire at Vernon.

I seen Justin Huckabone do it to Jimmy Whitmore a couple of years ago. Funny shit

Saratoga is unbearable. Cushing is young with a big mouth and Bailey needs to find his way back to VD. Who even uses him besides Zach Gray and Andy Sardella?
-
Jesse McAssey uses Leon

leon ca. drive ,very tough at saratogo with no help

It is unbearable except for the Beckwith kid.
-
Not for nothing, but if Cushing yields early, he is sitting 3rd behind a 28-1 shot.
He did not want that, so he pushed and yes he could of let Bailey go, but then he would be sitting 2nd behind a 28-1 shot off a 27 and piece quarter and 57 half.
He had a better horse and it turned out the best horse, cause he WON!
Like him or not, it was the right move.
I saw all the jawing between them to the quarter and half. Not surprised tempers flared up.
Cushing taking his whip and pointing it to the board, probably telling him you are 28-1, i am not letting you go. lol!
I am sure they will both be fined for "inappropriate conduct on and off the racetrack"
I wonder if Jimmy Devaux who was caught 3 wide had some words for either one of them. Devaux was 9-2.
Cushing probably would of let Devaux go, had not Bailey insisted on pressing.
-
Maybe the worst driver colony in harness racing.
-
King Leon overdriving on the 2 trying to out leave the 1. Nope. Any real professional driver will deny that move any day and then he proceeds to have more than words. Leon deserves 0 respect here on out
-
Sounds alot like Greg jizzmore. I think he was beat up by 3 people in the paddock. And one married his wife.
-
Well, I went up n back with one. A rare cash for sure.
-
Leon Bailey should be given seven days for his unprofessional actions during and after the race. Cushing did nothing wrong and should not face any suspension.
-
Bailey lost lots of time with bad accident in'23..id think most trips in '24 new $$ meaning. BUT without lots of 'fueled up' stock in most drives, tough to get good checks, Does cushing yield there? could of..should of, and then garner lead on the retake before being trapped. THAT happens most every time.
They raced again together in 5th and 11th without obvious on track 'dispute'
-
Cushing can be vocal but HIS HORSE WON THE RACE. Bailey drove badly. Fighting is absolutely wrong and there should and will be punishment. I'm sure there will be times in a race down the road to get even BUT Not fighting. I agree with an earlier plopster. Tough to watch STG. Almost every race has a prohibitive favorite. Fast 1st qtrs THEN THEY JAM. 27 then a 31. THIS IS RUINING RACING
-
Maybe the worst driver colony in harness racing.
it's a distance 2nd to Hawthorne
-
Josh Marks got days for pointing the whip and taunting past the wire at Vernon.
Walter Case did it at Northfield and then heaved the whip onto the infield like a javelin earning him a suspension.
-
Well, it's nice to know they care...I'd punch any dude name Mitchell, just because his name was Mitchell.

cushing might be a punk, he wont mess with leon any more
-
Had he just parked Bailey it would have been ok but to let him get within a step of clearing and then driving on was wrong. One has to look back a week or 2 ago when leon was gapped out in the 3 hole and Stalbaum was outside him. What happened there ?? Larry comes down, cuts Baileys horses legs out from under him and he ends up in the infield. Bailey could have done that and probably received a lighter suspension than what he will now get.
If all Bailey gets is a $500 fine and I knew it, I would have given him $500 to hit him again..
-
Hey asshole. It was raining that night and it was a fucking mistake, get over it. A horse died last year at Saratoga because of Leon’s reckless driving. He’s terrible. The bomber has been driving for as long as Leon has been alive.Saratoga needs to have a zero policy for fighting, matter of fact, all tracks should. It’s not professional.not to mention Leon was 87-1 and Mitch was 6-1.both should get a fine, however Leon waited for Mitch to come off the track as Mitch still had lines in hand. Absolute bullshit. Leon should get 30-60 days minimum. He’s always been cocky and can’t read a program or drive for that matter.
-
Mistake ? Get a life. Bailey in 2 bad accidents and the driver with 25 yrs experience thinks he can scare him into grabbing up. .? Didn’t work. Mud is no excuse..
when a driver lets you get within a stride of getting to the rail and then goes to the whip to keep you out its BS. Even if you own the horse or bet it, you know thats not right.
-
2 bad accidents that didn’t involve the bomber. Leon is ignorant. It’s about time he goes back to Vernon.
-

Maybe this new layer of entertainment will attract the MMA crowd to watch harness drivers slug it out after races. Now thats Entertainment!

mitch started the fight by laughing at leon during the race,
-
mitch started the fight by laughing at leon during the race,
Were you at the track live for the race ??
-
mitch started the fight by laughing at leon during the race,
started the fight? hahaha. He was pointing his whip to the toteboard reminding him of something.
Maybe his odds? Maybe something else.
Mitch was racing his horse. Bailey was too.
Bottom line is Mitch did not want Bailey to get over and Bailey thought he should of been let go.
If I feel I have the best horse and seeing the other horses battle 3 wide past the quarter to the 3/8ths, why would I ever let the horse go? He did the right thing and won the race too.
End of discussion. What Bailey did was assault. What Mitch did was racing.
Right or wrong, the only person in the wrong here is the guy the struck another guy.
-
How many drivers do you see hitting a horse going to the 1/4.
As I said before. Your man is lucky Leon didn’t just come down when he had that moment . He does not have the balls to try that against 80% of the other drivers at Stga.
Ok just remember, karma is a bitch.
-
mitch started the fight by laughing at leon during the race,
So if you laugh at someone over something, that means you started the fight??
Really?
-
Ron Pierce drove art official same way and looked like a genius
-
Did Cushing get taken down for an infraction...... no......did he win the race.....yes... and this complete moron Bailey tries to drive on with a huge longshot that has zero business doing so. If Jimmy D. also drives on Cushing is sitting third behind 2 horses who have been used up early or behind Bailey, who will stop in his face.
Both kids are useless hacks, with zero future, but in this case Bailey 100 percent in the wrong and truly a complete asshole.
-
I would of punched the kid too. Does anyone want to tell Mitchell how retarded he looks the whole mile? God someone crack this fucking kid a good one!
-
He looked pretty good in the winner's circle. 11.wp
-
it's a distance 2nd to Hawthorne
AND HOOSIER. HOOSIER IS BY FAR THE WORST DRIVERS FOR DECENT MONEY. AT LEAST SARATOGA AND VERNON AND HAWTHORNE GO FOR PEANUTS SO YOU EXPECT BAD DRIVERS. BUT HOOSIER IS DECENT MONEY BUT THOSE DRIVERS GOTTA BE HITTING THE CRACKPIPE.
-
I don’t understand how anyone can say anything negative about Cushing’s drive. He had the best horse and wasn’t about to give a big long shot a courtesy tuck just because Bailey was screaming for one. Bettors hate the never ending courteous tucks we see over and over. Bailey needs to get a serious suspension.
-
remind me why this sport is dead,,,
fights at northfield now at saratoga
fckin embarresment
-
Heard Leon got 30 days and $500.00 fine and Mitchell got 10 days and $250.00. Fines and days are valid if not appealed.
-
Leon can't afford to many more set downs between injuries and now this???? Might as well pack up and head back to Vernon. Saratoga is tough enough without sitting out months at a time. If I was a judge I would of hit Cushing harder for his on track bull shit!
-
Stuff happens. But there's no excuse for fighting. It sets a bad precedent. Leon is lucky he has some loyal friends there.

NYGC hasn't issued any rulings for either guy yet.

I get my information rite from the horses mouth. Duh!!! 🙄

Someone please explain what rule did Cushing break to deserve any punishment? All I saw was a driver doing his best to win. He must have felt he had a very strong horse and wanted to keep him on the lead. If the horse fell apart I could accuse Cushing of driving a poor race but still no violation.

Taunting, yelling comments at Leon and pointing his whip.
-
A fine for Cushing should be enough.
10 days for what he did seems a bit much unless he’s a repeat offender.
Then again, do we really know what happened behind the scenes?
Did Cushing fight in any way or just get slugged?
-
There are more than written rules for drivers as there are in lots of things. When Bailey first came up on him was the time for Cushing to urge his horse on and not wait until Bailey was within a step of clearing and then hang him. And then it is not a good thing to taunt another driver (remember Pierce waving to Schmeds in Lexington?) All fines and suspensions are up to the judge. The driver in Northfield just got much less.
There is a skill to racing a horse on top. Too bad cushing has not watched the master at that. He will have another chance to learn when Wally gets back.
-
Leon officially got 30 days and a $500 fine for not appealing. Originally was 60/$1000

-
Gee wonder if another gofundme will be instituted for this sub human Bailey to help pay off his fine plus the nickels and dimes he will lose with his pathetic driving. What a piece of shit.
-
Mitch did nothing wrong with the drive. Nothing. But he did act in an unprofessional manner ON TV... ok yes if you don't really know what your seeing you may not see it. But he definitely deserved some penalty. As for Leon he's been ice cold as having a rough start to the year but actions like this certainly will not help. Pack up and go back to Vernon
-
True fact but how many drivers are there really at in Saratoga
Here we go:
Brett Beckwith
Matt Athearn
Jim Devaux
Larry Stalbaum
Shawn Gray
Billy Dobson
Better yet, how many at Hoosier, Northfield, Plainridge, Rosecroft, Buffalo/Batavia, Vernon, any other track I missed?
There might be more 'drivers' at Saratoga than at the tracks listed above!
-
You might want to add Jay Randall to that list Rainman.
-
Is Jackie Greene and Brett Derue still there? Is he driving her horses?
-
Truth is, Saratoga has a very good driving colony and always has, top Saratoga drivers hold there own at any other track. Over the years I've seen top driver's from other tracks come to Saratoga and leave cause they can't do any good.
