The only had 3 races with full field of 10, and the class of horses racing was very low. Purses were thus low. They still did near $3.7 Million. If they are so concerned about the bottom line, this is the business model you'll probably see going forward. What a shame to what they used to be.

I would think a more inclusive statement would be; "what a shame to what the industry used to be."

This issue is not everywhere. You have some states states that are doing well,  Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Mass, Kentucky, and Minnesota to name some. Strong purses , improved sire stakes program, and an improved horse population.

Doing well? With who's money? What is the standard for success in harness racing? What track has the greatest state subsidies?

Jeff figuring out that you can run amateurs and rats around the track and people will still bet $3 million plus on the weekends.

Why bother running stakes races when the handle is this good with cheap horses?
