Race and meeting abandoned from thereon. He has won 2948 races which in NZ is 3rd best all time. One of them was the one start he drove my horse in the 80's LOL.
Another female driver performed CPR on him for 20 minutes until the helicopter arrived. Racing at a country meeting 100 miles from a major hospital. This guy was nails in big races when the money was up. Soft hands and could get dogs to run. Never punished a horse. Not bad for a farmer who came out at night to drive in races while tending to crops, cattle, and the family horses during the day.

Terrible

That's terrible , I hope he survives and gets well ...i saw that once here at Monticello NY, back in the 1970s..a driver by the name of Victor Reeves...He won the race and died of a heart attack as he crossed the wire falling out of the súlky.. terrible thing to happen to anyone..

Who was the driver at rp5/8
That died on the track ? He fell off the race bike
Right before finish line!
I remember Jeff Fout and others saying
The guy was gone at the 3/4 pole
Was sitting in the bike head slumped as
Horse did it all alone

Just use a cardboard cut-out the next time

There are a lot of drivers who are dead in the sulky. They just don't know it.

The heart stopped was dead for 10 minutes. Had a Female driver who is a physiotherapist not performed CPR (and broken his ribs in the process) he would not be alive. His horse was in front when he passed out and fell and he said he would have won had that not happened LOL
He was stabilised there and before being flown to Christchurch Hospital a few days later where he had surgery to have a cardioverter defibrillator implanted in his chest on Thursday.
The device delivers a shock through a wire which runs into a chamber of the heart and May will have it in his chest for the rest of his life in case his heart stops suddenly again.
May's heart stopped without warning, and his official diagnosis was hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy.
