Most horse people don't even know who their real father is, let alone who their Congress reps are.  They are like prostitutes, as long as you got money they don't care

It sounds like a great bill. I’m calling my congressman in support of it.  Finally a policing agency that is not 10 steps behind the vets and chemists.

Why would anyone care if horses are drugged?? Makes no sense at all

You've got to hand it to the USTA. When you complain to them about rampant drug use, they respond that all they are is a record keeping association and can't do anything about it. Now, they want to sway you to vote against a bill that wants to fight drug use head on with stricter testing, rules and larger penalties. Why would I vote against something like that? Here is the real reason why the USTA wants you to vote NO. The big breeding farms run the USTA. Hell, the President of the USTA ran Hanover for years. The big breeding farms want to sell their horses for inflated prices to the wealthy owners whose horses are trained by the biggest offenders of PED's. Burke, Allard, Brown, Oakes, Takter etc. If the playing field is leveled by the FEDS, these cheaters will no longer control all the big stakes and parity will occur. Mom and Pops off bred horse will suddenly be competitive against the Blue Bloods.  This will enable you to buy a sensibly priced yearling and actually have a chance to win against the cheaters on the big stage. These big breeding farms want you to think that it's their farms bloodlines that are winning all the big races when in fact it is their PED using trainers whom are the reason for their success. Remember, these are the trainers who constantly come up positive for a myriad of things and yet somehow never get dealt anything more than a slap on the wrist. The USTA wants to keep it that way.

Great post. tmbz1 tmbz1 tmbz1

Racing Commissions are a joke--as evidenced by the complete lack of control and rampant drug use by certain individuals left to their own devices.
You have people like Faraldo--arguing against out of competition testing-different rules in different States and severe penalties to smaller stables while the large stables get off.
Can you imagine what would have happened in a real court--to Casie Coleman-phoning instructions and  administering "yogurt" in a detention barn?--or Lou Pena jugging a horse in a detention barn?
Racing Commissions have done such a terrible Job-people like Gural--have to do their own testing and checking--also not ideal-but shows the lack of trust with commissions.

State Commission members don’t know a shadow roll from a gaiting strap.

I almost called the executive of the USTA to voice my disbelief that they would lobby AGAINST a bill that would be a huge step in the right direction to clean up a completely drug infested, unregulated industry.  I then said, screw it let them hang themself.  It’s a joke.  They want to protect their little sheltered corrupt industry from the outside world.  They just lost any possible future credibility that they might have had. IMO Russell Williams should be fired or resign.

WHEN YOU TOSS GURAL'S NAME IN SUGGESTING HE IS TAKING ADDITIONAL STEPS TO CLEAN UP THE GAME, YOU SHOULD ALSO MENTION HOW HE ALLOWS CERTAIN TRAINERS TO RACE AT HIS TRACKS THAT HAVE HAD POSITIVE TESTS. I AGREE WITH THE LACK OF TRUST IN RACING COMMISSIONS, BUT NOT MANY HAVE TRUST IN GURAL---MAINLY BECAUSE OF HIS VARYING RULES, DEPENDING ON WHO THE GUILTY PARTY IS.

Totally agree Spermy-you are 100% correct--that why I threw in the caveat--also not ideal.

For Mr Gural to allow certain individuals entry while others get a pass for doing the same or even worse infractions--defy belief and make the whole ideal of him cleaning up racing--mute.

Thats why racing DESPERATELY--needs to get rid of racing commissions-and have an Independent authority nation wide handle positives etc.

Of course they don't want it to pass. this would expose all the elite fake trainers that drugged their way to the top. Guess its time to learn how to really train and prep a horse. They can start by reading the trotting and pacing guide..... ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3 ngc3

Hope it passes, so that The Trunk Doctor can buy a fishing rod and a lounge chair and call it quits.

anybody younger than 30 probably dosen't know what a gaiting strap is used for.Or even know what it was if they were looking at it.

Well said Mike, I’m not a fan of more Government, I wish there was a non governmental answer

Hope HR2651 passes so that the game becomes more competitive and even keel. The Trunk Doctor and others like him can get a regular job or clean stalls.
