Test of Faith's ovaries would have fallen out if she had to face Shartin N and Manchego's career was not as good as Atlanta's.

Manchego's 5 yo career was insane. Atlanta didnt have that. Atlanta had a better 3 yo campaign but aged it goes to Mamchego as well as her 2yo campaign

Only deserved it once...lotta wins on shitty half miles against b level ffas. Simply not impressed by his relative  lack of success at the Mecca

Varenne was the greatest trotter ever. I do not see anything even close. This trotter had major success in 7 countries, 62 wins at 11 different distances, the equivalent of over $8.75 million in earnings and won Horse of the Year in both the USA and France. He is also one of the only foreign horses in our Goshen HOF. If you aren’t familiar do yourself a favor and look him up.

We managed to slide off topic.  The question was, regardless of gait and taking all factors into consideration, and in your opinion, who was the best standardbred in the last 25 years. It is not multiple choice. One Plopper, one choice. I personally would have chosen SBSW or Bettors Delight for second best. I know it's hard to choose but it should be interesting to see the results.

Tough question as what do we mean by "Best"-because horses unfortunately can retire early to go to breeding shed--and thus its hard to judge how they would go for the rest of their lives.
So up till age 3--its Trotter--MUSCLE HILL
                              Pacer--Somebeachsomewhere.
NO doubt in my mind-and Im lucky to have been around the last 25 years to see them all.

Best as far as longevity and Prizemoney--then its Foiled Again for Pacer  Varenne--for Trotter

Not so tough as both pacers and trotters are considered Standardbreds. The question who is considered the best standardbred regardless of gait. Your choices are both great but you have to pick one.

Sorry I'm going to broken record this but I have to speak up again for Always B. Miki.  Broke both hind legs still came back and set the fastest mile ever that held up for six years or so.  Already sired 5 Breeders Crown winners and possibly the best mare ever in Sylvia Hanover.

What could have he done if he didn't break those legs and kept racing?

I would love to agree with you on that but I can't. I would agree that he was the greatest overnighter in the business.

A little known fact is that Vivian Farrington tithed her church on all winnings.
