From what people say, easier to get a 'positive' at Plainridge than at Saratoga!
See Lisa Zabielski on this from a few months ago!
-
The guy is a workaholic and he does one thing that 99 % of the trainers don't do. He constantly is getting new horses that fit classes and gets rid of the ones that don't. Plus his son is a very talented driver.
-
He is 100% racing and works very hard, the last time I saw him he looked a bit tired.

205 CMR 3.29 (1)(2)(2A)(3). On 6/30/2023 Industrial Labs reported to the Mass State
Gaming Commission/Racing Division at PRC, two post race positive test results. Both
horses raced on 6/15/2023 at PRC and were trained by Melissa Beckwith. The horse
HUNTED HOUSE participated in Race 4 and finished 1st. The Certificate of Analysis,
Sample E545473 showed Levamisole in the blood. In addition the horse PROBERT
participated in Race 7, finished 2nd but was subsequently disqualified and placed 3rd for
interference. The report for Sample E545480 also showed Levamisole in the blood. Trainer
of record Beckwith was notified of both findings and on 7/3/2023 exercised her right to a
split sample for both post race positive test results. Both split samples were sent to
independent lab Analytical Forensic Testing Labs of Chicago, IL for analysis and on
8/24/2023 were returned confirming Levamisole in the blood. Subsequently trainer
Beckwith requested that both post race samples be quantified for Levamisole. Analytical
Forensic Testing Labs conducted the analysis and on 10/25/2023 reported their findings
regarding both concentration and confidence levels. A hearing was conducted on 11/2/2023
and as a result of all the facts presented trainer Melissa Beckwith is hereby fined the sum of
$1,000.00 and is also issued a full suspension for a period of 90 days beginning 11/8/2023

Any trainer change must be approved by the board of Judges. Purse monies forfeited must
be returned within 10 days of imposition and all fines are due within 48 hours of imposition.

Doesn't currently have a trainers license

You can't trust a Beckwith maybe John that's about it

Of course, Mad Dog is a beard.

Still suspended?

a de-wormer that a horse go faster?
-
I was thinking the same, it's an EPM treatment, right?
-
It is a fucked up system that penalizes a person for treating a parasite that is attacking the horse. What has this world come to?
-
The system is screwed up. She can first get notified on 7/3/23 and drag it out until a hearing in November. So gets 90 days suspended and loses 3 weeks of racing under her name. Why not 90 days of when Plainridge races? Well worth dragging it out for months!!

I hear you, Bill, but Levamisole should not be administered to horses about to compete because of its ability to metabolise to two central nervous system stimulants, aminorex and pemoline.
Better to use Toltrazuril or Diclazuril.
-
Plainridge is so corupt. Absurd that she get a positive continue racing and drag it out til the end of the season then put maddog down and continue as always
Depends who u r at the ridge
Betwith gets away with whatever cuz he trains managements horses and treats they’re others u see that barn all of a sudden having wins when they couldn’t finish the race few starts back

This thread is just another example why harness racing will wind up as ashes on someone’s mantel.

I didn't realize that. Thanks!

Why would anyone worm a horse a day or two from racing ?? Unless.
-
Horses having worms cause weight loss and lack of energy. Worming is a regular part of horse maintenance.

FYI, quite a few trainers got the same ‘positive’ 10+ years ago. See Toscano et al. They changed the withdrawal times as to how long it should be before yo race. FYI, if the track so desires, they can make you ‘persona non grata’ if they so choose as it is a ‘major offense’.

I’m well aware of that. But few , if anyone worm a horse to worm it , within 2 days of race. Most know sheep wormer will pick a horse up.

Sheep wormer is great for breathing!! If they can breathe they can go!
-
Get those worms out of their lungs !!!!
-
There was study done that has shown in some horses it has stayed in their system for over 28 days, not sure if that would be enough at that point to test positive?
-
Why is this still a thread?
-
Agree!!! The guy has been successful for a very long time with a wide variety of horses. And what makes him successful is hard work and he moves horses when they can't make money. The vast % of trainers out there don't do it. They want those monthly bills.
Pick another trainer to talk about. Talking about Beckwith is getting old. Do I sense some jealousy!!!!

No jealousy from anyone. Just a lot of bullshit from the cheerleader.
