Let’s move on from the 60s snd 70s
Nobody wants to see that kinda racing any longer
Winning all based on the draws
It’s boring
And the younger generation. Apparently aren’t interested
-
I do agree on this one.
1/2 mile line up racing is like watch grass grow. Younger crowd want some type of excitement. They rather bet sports then a bunch of people slashing away on poor animals for a quarter mile.
-
Its a wonder it didn’t kill racing long before. Only game in town in the 60s
-
agreed
but in most cases that would mean casinos spending money to build new tracks, not happening
keeping half mile tracks is destroying racing which is what they want
-
Agree Luc. Our horses we raced at Maywood in the 90s we would tell DK race for a check from 6-7-8 holes. Then next race draw inside, let’s go
-
Won’t ever eliminate 1/2 mile racetracks. The Jews love those $3 exacta line-ups.
-
lots of action at Northfield
-
Get rid of 1/2 mi tracks, what are they going to replaced by, more parking lots for casinos. Theyŕe not going to build new racetracks to replace the old ones, let's see if the new Northville gets built.
-
I agree about the draw, Have drawn the 8 hole at Northfield and Delaware county fair on jug day and almost impossible to win unless you have a horse like niatross. But they will never get rid of Delaware with it's long tradition.

Agreed if they keep the current formula--BUT ---half mile tracks are fine-action is closer and can be exciting--HOWEVER -Since the introduction of newer equipment and drivers becoming more aggressive--its led to the inside having way too much of an advantage.
SOLUTION-1) stagger the gate---kudos to Yonkers its trying--BUT its not enough.
2) Start the race 50M earlier--like they did in Maywood-and like they do today at Pocono. Why waste over half of the stretch??
3) At least put on a few more 1 1/2 or 1 1/4 mile races like they do overseas and for the Yonkers TROT

Good suggestions. May I add, write the conditions to include a handicap to the highest earners. The highest earners for the class are assigned the outside posts. Or somthing that suggests a handicap to the higher earners as it is often indicative to most recent form.
Very similar to how the thoroughbreds write their overnights using weight assignments.

The claiming handicaps already do that and it's very fair.
Didn't they already try a mile and a 1/16th or mile and an 1/8th ? It did give additional straight away to blast before you hit the turn. I thought that was a great idea at the time.

I know they want to have full fields ,but when I drew the 8 one was a 9 horse field and the other was a 10 horse field. The 10 horse field at Delaware went for 120K and I might as well have left the horse in the barn.

# 4. Stop the drivers from leaning back in a straight line. Horse in the 4 hole has to go an extra length or more.

Eliminate all buggy racing
-
Yonkers is like watching paint dry
Yes jug week is great
After that u get Northfield and Yonkers
Sleep fests tmbz1

I thought the mile and a sixteenth races at Yonkers were a great idea but if memory serves the horsemen seemed to not like them. Anything to make post posiiton less relevant would be a good idea.
Have to say the harness racing overseas is a lot more interesting to watch....although I can only imagine what would happen if we tried a circle start here lol.

Use slanted starting gate
Fine for opening holes(nobody gets parked anymore)
Give purse incentive to outside draws
-
Watch Northfield, they start moving at the quarter pole. These guys really compete!
