Lot of good points made here.

I may eat my words at the end of the year, but IMO Karl is in another zip code talent-wise than the rest of the 3yos we've seen this year, as well as the 2yos he went up against last year. No hate on TCI, who is a really nice horse, but I would be surprised if he is much better this year. They raced the shit out of that horse last year. They're not machines (though if someone can turn one into a robot, it's the Burkes).

yes time will tell
tci , we will see, raced hard at 2 and burke takes the money when its there and worries about next year next year
karl looks very impressive, you really do need to be much the best if you plan on winning on the front every week, but it has been done before so we shall see

lets hope they both stay healthy and have some competitive races

Horrible call by the judges last year at the Red Mile.
Karl held off TCI and the judges blew it. I believe it was corruption

Karl will end up being known as the greatest trotter ever.

He is powerful; however a long way to go to put up the race career that Muscle Hill obtained and the raw talent that Walner showed (Stanley Dancer jogburger in 1:50.2 with last 3/4 in 1:22.4!)

Listen, this has to be a discussion of how he looked training down all winter -- if you had the opportunity to see him -- and it has nothing to do with being on the GOAT list. Come on, unless he doesn't come back at all, why go into the GOAT discussion. He hasn't done anywhere near enough to enter into that discussion. Absent the internet and armchair trainers here, I saw him train over the winter a few times, when they brought him to the Meadowlands, and more, his qualifier. He looked good, very good! I am in the bet against camp, but he still looked very good, LOL.

I have no idea how many starts they planned on before the Hambo, but the calendar does seem like they are early to the party. I wouldn't question Takter on this. By design or little to no choice, who knows. But next time you see either Jimmy or Nancy----ask them. I am sure some reporter will.
