Why not contact Mr. Savoir himself and ask for some funding, possibly leasing Pompano for $1 a year, like he did with Goofffrrraaall
Downs. The harness industry has had PLENTY of time to plan another path forward to figure this out. As you said, Pompano had it's largest handle this year, so getting some new blood would benefit everyone. With proper planning and having the CORRECT people in place, this should be able to be worked out.

His letter is flawed.   Mentioning the 62 farms and 7 training centers proves that the bulk of the industry in Florida has little association with Pompano.   90% of the racing standardbreds in the state never make a start there.   Those folks will still support the agricultural industry with or without pompano.

Dan Daley never had a chance. As usual the Seminole tribe out negotiated the State of Florida and received a monopoly on sports betting for 30 years.

The FSBOA recent past presidents (and they know who they are) sold the horseman down the river years ago. Their inability or desire not to manage and properly negotiate a contract was evident by their last contract negotiation. As usual and without any consent or communication with the FSBOA membership a contract was for one year. Ceasar's could not operate without racing and they negotiated a one year deal. FSBOA management had control of putting a hurt on Ceasar's. Instead each board member will be remembered in infamy for being in charge when the Winter Capital of Harness racing meets the wrecking ball.

The past presidents of FSBOA management were only interested in racing their amateur horses and had no real interest in actually representing the horsemen.  FSBOA management rarely attended a race night if their horses were not in an amateur race.  A sad but extremely predictable ending.

I APPLAUD MR. DALEY, JR. FOR THE EFFORT.   I TRULY RESPECT DAN DALEY, SR. AS A HUMAN AND A HORSEMAN.  THE TRUTH IS---MR. DALEY, JR. HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD AS NO ONE EVER TOOK THE BULL BY THE HORNS AND NEGOTIATED ON BEHALF OF THE HORSEMAN A LONG TERM CONTRACT AND PUT IT INTO LAW.   MR. DALEY WAS FIGHTING A WAR WITH A POPSICLE STICK.

THE MONEY WAS NICE AROUND THE COUNTRY BUT THE MONEY WAS NOT SPEMT WIELY AS IT LINED THE POCKETS OF SO FEW.   THE FUNDS SUPPLIED BY THE RACINOS SHOULD HAVE BEEN SPLIT INTO A MANAGEMENT POOL AND A GROUP OF SOPHISTICATED LEGAL MINDS TO WORK DILIGENTLY FOR THE HORSEMAN 24/7.  MR. DALEY JR. ADVISED HIS FATHER WORKED AND CARED ABOUT HIS HORSES---SO TRUE.  NON ONE CAN OUTWORK MR. DALEY SR.    THIS IS NOT TO CRITICIZE MR. DALEY SR AS SO MANY IN HARNESS RACING IS LIKE MR. DALEY SR.

THE PURSES WERE INCRESASED A SO VERY FEW MADE MILIONS AND MILLIONS AND MILLIONS FROM THE RACINOS AND BECAME VERY WEALTHY.   A PERCENTAGE OF THESE FUNDS NEEDED TO BE PUT TO AN OUTSIDE 3RD PARTY GROUPD REPRESENTING THE HORSEMAN IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE SPORT.  THE USTA TAKES FEES AND REPRESENTS THE HORSEMAN TO AN EXTENT BUT NOT THE EXTENT I AM TALKING ABOUT.    THERE ARE MANY WEALTHY FAMILIES IN THE SPORT THAT COULD OF MADE SUCH A DIFFERENCE BUT DID NOT.

I LOVE HARNESS RACING.  ALWAYS HAVE BUT TRULY WE HAVE LOST THE REPRESENTATION FROM AMERICAS WEALTHY FAMILIES AS THEY GREW OLD AND THEIR INFLUENCE DIMINISHED.   MY BACKGROUND IS WALL STREET AND SINCE THE OLD DAYS WE HAVE NOT HAD THE INPUT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO SUSTAIN THIS SPORT WE ALL LOVE.   

THE DAY OF POWERFUL OUTSIDE 3RD PARTY INVESTORS IN OUR SPORT HAS PASSED.   I APPLAUD ALL THE EFFORTS THAT MR. DALY JR MADE BUT ONE MAN CANNOT CHANGE DESTINY.   WE NEED THOUSDANDS----MILLIONS.   WE NEEDED TO FIX THESE ISSUES OVER 15 YEARS AGO INSTEAD OF HANDING OUT MORE FREE MONEY TO SO FEW AND LET MANY NEW MILLIONAIRES BE MINTED.

NOW WHAT?   WE NEED TO ACQUIRE THE DATES IN POMPANO---COMPETE WITH ALL OF THE FOLKS IN FLORIDA AND FIGHT OUR BATTLES.  IT TAKES MONEY.   LEADERSHIP.   GUESS WHAT?  THIS IS THE START OF THE MASSIVE DOWNFALL.   PENNSYLVANIA WILL FOLLOW AS WELL AS OTHER WEAK STATES.   OHIO IS CURRENTLY THE STRONGHOLD IN THE SPORT.  WE ALL CANNOT GO TO OHIO AND LET THE SPORT DIE.   MR. GURAL HAS DONE A GREAT JOB IN NJ AND I SEE HIS BASHING ALL THE TIME BUT HE HAS CREATED A POSITIVE BEGINNING IN THE SPORT THRU HIS EFFORTS.

FOLKS IT IS DUE OR DIE .  WE ARE AT THAT CROSSROADS.   I BEGAN ON WALL STREET OVER 45 YEARS AGO AND I AM PROUD TO SAY THE OLD DAYS HAD THE GUIDAS, SIGNORELLI'S, HILL FARMS, CASTLETON FARMS, DEL MILLER, MR. HAUGHTON, MR. DANCER, ETC!   FOLKS WHO WERE DOERS AND PUSHED FOR THE SPORT.   THEY ARE ALL GONE.   WE HAVE NOT CROWNED THE NEW LEADERS IN THE SPORT THAT CARE ABOUT THE SPORT.   

FOLKS IT IS NOW OR NEVER.   TOO LATE YOU MAY SAY BUT IT IS NEVER TOO LATE UNTIL THE FAT LADY SINGS!!!!

POMPANO IS DEFINITELY A GREAT PLACE TO RACE!   I AM A FLORIDA RESIDENT AND HAVE BEEN FOR MANY MANY YEARS.   I RECALL AND SPENT MANY DAYS ON THE TRAINING SIDE AS WELL AS THE RACING SIDE.   HAD SO MANY FRIENDS AT POMPANO THAT ARE NOW NEEDED BUT ARE GONE.   

WE TRULY NEED DAN DALEY, JR. AND THE NEW GENERATION TO FIGHT THESE BATTLES.  AS DAN SAID---IT IS NOT TOO LATE.   LETTERS IN MY OPINION MEAN NOTHING AT THIS LATE STAGE---WE NEED REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL FUNDING TO GO AND VISIT THE CAPITAL AND THE INFLUENTIAL FOLKS IN FLORIDA.   THERE ARE MANY THAT WILL GIVE YOU AN EAR ON A MOMENTS NOTICE.   RECALL THAT MANY OF THESE FOLKS ARE JUST LIKE YOU AND ME---JUST REGULAR EVERYDAY PEOPLE.   NOTHING FANCY.  JUST PEOPLE.

Most horsemen's groups, had the opportunity to take a small portion of the slot generated money to set aside for integrity and promotion of their own industry. They refused over and over. They said that was the track owners job.
