This is not meant as a hate post-its called constructive criticism/debate.
The Yonkers surface is and has been way way too hard-and even more so with the emphasis on gunning horses flat out 1st quarter on a track as hard as the New York Thruway. You can hear the horses hitting the track from the upper grandstand.
Its leading to the demise of racing stock-VERY few horses can survive racing there season after season.
Broken bones, sore feet,"jarred up", bad knees,hocks--are at a higher % there than anywhere else-after you talk to many trainers and see for yourself.
Cortisone injections are rampant-which is why stock gets replaced quickly and Yonkers horses end up on scrap heap.
For the benefit of racing at Yonkers and to protect the horse population racing there--we desperately need more cushion on the track .
Should not need borium ,grabs etc to grab a rock hard track.

Also not meant to sound as criticism. Maybe constructive criticism. My buddies train and race all over and I hear this repeatedly at tracks they are at. Pompano is decent until hard rain and then it has several holes that open up in the racing lane. Scioto Downs has a hard surface. Heard the same about Yonkers. These big shot casinos/racinos come in and expect the managers to do less with less. Race tracks aren't taken care of properly. Trainers/owners are threatened if they scratch their horse because of a shit hole track. Those who don't have a decent horse just race them until they break down. Seems the only winners here are the vets who make the big bucks for piecing together broken down horses.

2 dead in 2018-thats 2 too many.
I acknowledge other racetracks have similar problems-but I really believe its exacerbated at Yonkers by the style of racing and the rock hard track.

You need to add singnificant injuries to deaths
Most owners will just put down the horse unfortunately
They jam horses that don’t belong on a half because they like the purses
This is the result
