This is not great news for fans, horsemen and grass horses.

The 6 week Calder meet allowed for the turf course at Gulfstream to be re-seeded, be worked and otherwise heal.

Take a look at the turf course when it opens.  It will be gorgeous.

Then take a look at a replay from the last Gulfstream grass race before the move to Calder.  I looks like it could be from Syria.

That is the smartest thing anyone has ever written here. These tracks that don't want racing make it so uncomfortable to be there that people never return.
thanks mike

How soon till we can get Pompano to do the same thing?  The world will be a better place without Pompano Puke

I know it’s probably a pipe dream of mine but I’ve always envisioned Hialeah park opening. They were known for their beautiful turf. Not to mention the grandstand is huge and can accommodate a breeders cup. With the demise of colder, Hialeah would be the perfect outfit for a short 6 to 8 week boutique meet such as Saratoga or Keeneland and could easily accommodate a breeders cup where as gulfstream cannot anymore
