President Donald Trump was reportedly told as early as January about a memo written by one of his advisers that warned of mass death in the United States from a coronavirus outbreak, though he has denied that he saw the memo at the time.
In a damning profile of the White House's actions leading up to the US's coronavirus outbreak, The New York Times reported Saturday that Trump did indeed learn of the January 29 memo written by his trade adviser, Peter Navarro.
The memo reportedly included a warning that up to 30% of the US population could be infected, and the death toll could be "on the order of a half a million American souls."
Navarro had also urged in the memo to limit travel from China, then the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak. Trump implemented a travel ban shortly after.
"The lack of immune protection or an existing cure or vaccine would leave Americans defenseless in the case of a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on US soil," Mr. Navarro's memo said. "This lack of protection elevates the risk of the coronavirus evolving into a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans."
According to The Times, aides discussed the memo with Trump, and he was displeased Navarro put the information in writing.
Navarro also wrote a second memo on February 23 warning that up to "1 [to] 2 million souls" could die of the virus, according to Axios.
Just one day later, Trump tweeted that the coronavirus was "very much under control in the USA."

Since we are going to get nowhere near 1 - 2 million dead, and everyone blames anything to do with the virus on Trump, I guess the haters will have to admit his Team did a phenomenal job, saving close to 2 million lives.

The article in Yahoo simply shows how many opposing ideas there were and are about how to address the virus. Not surprising, since there is no SOP for it. So easy to sit on the sidelines, with no responsibility, and question decisions after the fact. So easy to blame the WH Administration for actions being taken at the State level. Perfect example is the WH not having enough ventilators available, when in fact that is a State budget decision.
Back seat drivers can never be blamed for an accident.

Not true for me, but you have just described every Democrat in Washington.
Trump does A. They hate A, and often don't even have a B.
Trump does B. They love A.
While that is going on policy wise, it has been 4 years of technical challenges to remove the elected POTUS from office. None of which have been successful, but sure have killed a lot of time and wasted a lot of money.
Then add on an unprecedented attack by many of the larger media organisations in North America. It is a one sided, 24 x 7 barrage of negative talking points, that no POTUS has ever experienced in history.
I have said multiple times on here, I don't like Trump, but I like his Administrations policies.
I think he has been stupid politically, in that he continues to cater verbally to the voters he already has, but has done little to manage his message in a way that may have gained him some moderates from the middle left.
One thing I totally agree with, November will tell.
I just hope, regardless of the winner, Washington works for the people, and doesn't spend another 4 years trying to unseat the elected POTUS.

some doctors have their older clients get them. my dad's doctor had him get one a couple of years back. it is good for a few years then you need to have a booster shot. up until then i never knew it was available. i guess we shold all be getting them.

Maybe all should start to listen instead of talking. It has been reported that those who have received the shot for pneumonia which is a 5 year shot or good for 5 years have not been affected by this virus and this is not an age thing it doesn't matter but those who get these shots have had pneumonia where they have had long hospital stays because of it. Could this mean they have had something all along that could combat this virus. Apparently this shot is expensive and is why you just can't ask your doctor for it and from what I understand health insurance providers or many of them it's not part of your insurance coverage so you will pay for it. Canada's Public Health is different and it doesn't cost you but it is only for those who were in hospitals for long stays with pneumonia which makes me think that they don't have large stock piles of it.
It is very expensive even with insurance. plus i dont know as anybody that has insurance anyway
