Thats nice for its market size. Check out one racino in the NYC market.

Poor Monticello is down 50% since the casino opened a few miles away.

The Exporter:
I for one was never convinced Sullivan County was a good location for a casino. All the supporters had a disingenuous vision of a return to the 1960's and 1970's as a destination resort. The dynamics that made Sullivan County a destination then, do not exist today.
I attended multiple meetings held by the Gaming Commission during the selection process. All the bidders made presentations modeled to fit their needs. Not a reflection of reality. Water parks, golf courses, family fun themes... All BS intended to garner support for being granted a casino license.
When the state carved out the zones and decided on the # of licenses available, it carved out exactly what we have now. Local gaming houses. Each casino and racino is and never will be more than a local venue.
That is all except NYC. NYC zone will be opened in a little more than 3 years. Once that shakes out, casinos like Resorts in Sullivan County will be reduced even further.
None of this is bad news for the state. They collect off the top so, they will continue to rake it in. The local casinos will be fine as they will adjust to the market conditions. It is the local communities that were sold a bag of BS that will suffer.

true , and also putting a casino in scumnectity was very political . the worst choice they could have made . but they wouldn't put it in east greenbush because that's republican territory
Calhoun:
They are going to take the last dolloars the people of Sullivan County have away from food or rent and into slot machines.
I hope they offer support services for the increasing poverty. Extra buses, a good Pawn Shoppe and food stamps will help.
A Dollar Store will be opening soon.
