New Stakes rules in Canada

What do you think of the new rules just announced by Woodbine Entertainment  .....

Effective January 1, 2019, any owner that participates in a Woodbine Standardbred stakes race (added money greater than $50,000) with a trainer who has an outstanding Class 1, Class 2 or TC02 positive test under appeal in any jurisdiction, shall be ineligible to participate in any Woodbine Standardbred Stakes for 12 months following the conviction if such trainer is subsequently found guilty relating to the Class 1, Class 2 or TC02 positive test.

I like it.  As an owner, if you use a dirty trainer, even one under appeal, and he/she gets found guilty, it now affects you and him/her !!   Even if you change trainers, you won't be able to run in the big races for 12 months.   Owners will need to be more diligent in selecting trainers.

Its more pomp and circumstance. The most important word is CONVICTION. Which means again, we get to play the appeal game and drag it out  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp
If YOU would "HUSH" up, YOU just might know WhatzzzzZ UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hush    .....       I would hope they have covered off the Owner simply selling his horse to a friend for $1.50 to run under their name.   HOPE, but wouldn't bet on it !!

Hush   .....     regarding appeals   .....    W Entertainment have to be committed to following the process through to the end, which of course requires them to be willing to put up money for lawyers to match the richer owners.

No need to fear this new rule if you are Canadian.

When a 3 year probation penalty is all you get in Canada for a Cobalt positive 5 times over the established limit nobody will ever be found guilty. Problem solved.

big talk no action just keep appealing and keep on racing if they would have left it as not eligiable while under appeal it would have meant something

Maybe I read it wrong but think it says “under appeal” . If that is the case and a positive is swept under the rug without a decision the trainer is out until some decision is made.    The commissions would then be forced to move. Will be interesting to see how much quicker decisions are made compared to the long drawn out appeals we now see.  The demand for beards will be increased and we will see a lot more wives down as trainers.

I sure hope that Canada's equivalent of Howard Taylor can shoot some holes in Clay Horner's Nazi like attempt to become an imperialist dictator of harness racing in that country up North like sneaky Jeff Gural does down here in the states

If the statement ENDS here, no problem  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp

following the conviction if such trainer is subsequently found guilty relating to the Class 1, Class 2 or TC02 positive test.

But when the disclaimer is put in, BULLSHIT  11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp 11.wp
