By statistics  It was Bret  3 time Horse of the year
The Mare was Fresh Yankee  First North American trotting to 1,000,000,000  also won the International Trot
First 1,000,000,000 winner was Cardigan Bay

PLEASE, what stats are you using to put pacer Bret above trotter Nevele Pride?  not arguing just curious

Will you give Rum Customer credit for being the first USA bred to win a million.

Here is one for you Kooter or anyone else.
I can think of only one tr/dr to collect over $100,000.00 in tr/dr % from just one race. There maybe more, but can you name the tr/dr I am thinking of?
OK kooter I played nice and gave yours a shot now give mine a shot.  Becareful for I can play trivia day and night.

Rum Customer, no doubt. Cardigan Bay was New Zealand bred and I was surprised to see that result.       I know some of this is splitting hairs, however, although both were Harness Horse of the Year 3 times, Bret dragged a human anchor around against the best year after year. He won more money than Nevele Pride, more races, although not in the same years. I personally don't think that Nevele Pride raced against the competition Bret did. That was my era, 60's thru 70's and 80's.  Many horsemen were of the same opinion. My favorites during that time were Speedy Scot, True Duane, and Super Wave, Eddie Cobb had a mare and no one will ever know how fast she was. It was Maida Million and if that was your time I guess you knew the story on Eddie.  I bred several mares to the ones I named and one made the races. Actually True Duane handed Bret one of his horses. It's to bad they weren't contemporaries.

Two Bret questions.
What horse and driver beat Bret at Springfield and again in CA.?
How many sets of shoes (Said to be off Bret)did his groom sell? (Plus or minus 25)
I can't think of the grooms name, but if you can post it I will recognize it.
Grooms wouldn't lie about the origin of shoes would they?
I rubbed a colt that chased Nevele Pride as a three year old.

I mentioned True Duane above. I had a nice colt by him that I named True North.

A really nice horse, a JFA at Yonkers and Roosevelt. The driver was blind in one eye and his name is on the tip of my tongue.

This shouldn't be to hard if you work backwards.
With the standard 5% for training and 5% for driving, you would need more then one horse in the race , or if just one horse the purse would have to be over two million. How many races have gone for over two million?
