sale price averages may be way down

top 2 horses were at $400,000

looks like many more sub $100,000 horses this year than last year

Sale picked up through 59 sale was off 22% but some of the big guns hadn't hit the tape. Couple over 600 and one over 700 with help that average out. The breeders are expected it to be down but I'm sure they are happy with the results tonight.

Make that one over 600. Sale down 17% from 2019 but slightly higher then 2018. 129k average nothing to sneeze at and 13% higher then 2017.

“Very strong opening night, considering”.    WHAT ???. Pre sale it was all about the “best quality ever”....   when pacing colts average is nearly $40,000 less than a year ago  and Trotting colts nearly $75,000 lower (even considering a couple million $ colts last year) I would say it was far removed from being a “very strong opening night”...  9 horses sold for $35,000 or less !!! On opening night ???

Why would they use "Average" instead of the more appropriate "Median" for sales price reporting?

Borderline retarded.

sale lighter than last year but the second half last night helped increase the numbers

tonight you may start seeing bigger weakness in the numbers

last year's buyers, especially at the very high end, did not do very well

" The average was down 16.3 percent from 2019 but up 2.1 percent from $126,471 in 2018 and 12.9 percent from $114,344 in 2017."

2019 looking like a outlier

2019 was a record by a mile and the best sale ever on the first day. Wow 2020 during a pandemic comes in as 2nd highest ever. The dollars were there see how the next five days shape out. Day may be strong as the regional part of the sale has lots of OH breds.
