Cannabis is not "the" gateway drug.  How about Nicotine and Alcohol? Not to mention mosts everybody's go to Caffiene. If cannabis is so bad for you then why does the human body have cannabinoid receptors all over the body?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) comprises a vast network of chemical signals and cellular receptors that are densely packed throughout our brains and bodies. The “cannabinoid” receptors in the brain — the CB1 receptors — outnumber many of the other receptor types on the brain. They act like traffic cops to control the levels and activity of most of the other neurotransmitters . A second type of cannabinoid receptor, the CB2 receptor, exists mostly in our immune tissues. It’s important to note that these receptors are numerous and play significant roles in our bodily functions.
