The McCarthy brothers are sketchy at best. Not just that race, so many races one of them will be a huge fav and a standout and somehow get a bad trip but rally late to finish 2nd to the other McCarthy who was a much better price. They don't hide it after the race either, you see them talking and smiling right after the wire. Yes. I believe the rebate is large in this situation and then it would make most sense that it is coming from the host site (meadowlands themselves) as they could afford the highest rebate.
