Brian Pelling was one of the first if not the first in Chicago.
Bea Farber was suspected of using it too. She was slammed by older horsemen because she never hot walked any of horses. They were thrown into their stall after racing with a blanket on and left alone. Horses were dead last one week and monsters the next. 11.wp

So we see the shake was all over the country and Down Under and in full swing by the mid 1980's. In a common 8 horse field of overnight class racing, how many would you say got a shake?

Man, those were the days! Dan Knox was a nothing, and all of a sudden he could just blow fields away. Good prices too.
