Title: Batavia downs deep in the toilet
Post by: getreal on October 29, 2022, 11:04:48 PM
Just home from the races that I used to love going to at Batavia. Its now become close to non-bettable. And non editable. 13 races tonight, 10 favorites won. 8 of the favs were four dollars or cheaper. 2 second choice and one longshot. The races are not competitive and not nearly as exciting as they used to be. The announcer is blah as is the food in the clubhouse. They used to have great food and a wonderful buffet. I go just about every night, now i go every saturday, soon they wont see me unless they do something different. Aweful racing, ashamed of my home track.

Track surface at Batavia in about the only good thing about it these days. A buddy of mine owns a 4000 claimer and week in and week out gets to race against horses that were in the opens 2 weeks earlier. Complete non competive racing.

Shame to see Batavia go downhill. It was my favorite place to race & it was 120 miles from the farm. + the border hassle.

The track surface is a disaster right now! Two horses broke their back leg a few weeks ago, in back to back nights! The race office is in total disarray allowing a trainer to race horses in the same race under another trainers name. Horses are being allowed to drop multiple class. Saturday 10/29 open was a sham! Shame on the management of Batavia Downs you traded one set of crooks for another!

Chicopee Chimes. I remember that name. I think my father owned part of her early on before being sold to Batavia. We had another mare Chicopee Star that went onto produce a few nice racehorses.

Rick Laframboise died in a Car Crash
Inherit the Crown was owned by the Barsuk family and did race in Batavia
Paul Szalay wasnt a bad guy, served our country, had some demons
Katchme Hanover was an open Mare trained by Phillipe Laframboise
James Compton trained and usually drove Held for Ransom
Head Held High was a Buffalo Horse, I believe trained by Gene Neamon could be wrong
Batavia is a shell of what it was just a year ago. Handle is down, making it even harder to bet, food not nearly as
good as the old buffet used to be. Todd the previous GM was very fan friendly, Hoover looks drunk all the time and
loves himself. The announcer they got from Buffalo is a want to be announcer--Copies the styles of the great announcers
of the past but his projection and voice are annoying at best. Too many races are won by horses that are 3 seconds the best. Bring me back
to the 70's and 80's. I loved both Buffalo and Batavia.

I vaguely remember wee jimmy, but Im not sure who was the trainer/driver. For some reason I thought
Tom Agosti or Fred Griffin had something to do with him, but im very unsure. How about lake shore dolly
one of my all time favorites. Gaston Guindon was the usual pilot.

I remember when Bethlehem Steel plant was open and there were double headers and full fields, The GM at the time actually cared about racing at Buffalo, now they have a pervert as a GM that single handily ruined the place. When Mango dies horsemen will come from miles around to piss and shit on his grave!

Todd was a long time Batavia Downs fan who cared about the fans and about wny racing. This guy they got now was milkshaking horses a few years ago, shows up drunk half the time, doesnt know half the horsemen or 3/4 of the fans. One of the worst moves in Batavia Downs History. I hope the powers to be over there are happy because the place is a stale shell of what it was just recently.

And may i add the handle is showing it, so whoever benefits from WROTB isnt doing as well as they once were. That could also be because of certain bar bills or should i say bar cost driven up by a few in power.

When did the rule change in NYS that a trainer could have 2 in a race, or was the amazing Don drunk at the draw. Skowyra with 2 in 1 race.
