Title: A rarity to see two pacing bred horses run 1-2 in a trotter's race
Post by: TimTimTimbo on February 10, 2023, 04:15:58 PM
I was laughing when I watched a race in NZ where the winner was Captain Treacherous out of a Bettor's Delight won beating a A Rocknroll Dance out of a Chrisitan Cullen mare because it was a TROT

Over the years there have been many pacing breds converted to trot and won many of the major races over there

I wonder if there are any famous US horses who were bred to pace but trotted and won a bunch?

Had a "Barnett Hanover" colt that won on the trot and pace in the same year. Around 2:01 in both. Nothing outstanding but still an oddity.

Only half pacing bred. Bottom line is all trot. In fact, goes back to Rosalind.

Sorry - quoted the wrong post in my original post. Googoo Gaagaa goes back to Rosalind, not the horse in the post I quoted.

There have been many pacing bred trotters and vice versa. Speedy Romeo comes to mind.

We had Fireside Allstar.

Beat Kelly Lobell in a NJSS then suffered an injury after shoeing change. Never was the same but learned to trot and pace. Would switch over after enough $$ was put on card on one gait.
