Perhaps barry and wizard could take this break to walk down the hall to the judges or the tech dept. AND GET THEM TO WAKE UP AND TRACK THE HORSES BETTER ON THE TV as the race is underway.  We fans have NO idea who the horses are at the front...MVR must think we are listening to Barry's call (which is a good one)...but no, 80 percent of us watch mvr races off a sound down tv at teletheater....ge t this problem fixed and track your races with the electronic position numbers so we can all follow the race and know whete our horses are..every mvr race has at least 5 drivers with familiar red and white garb..
Thats ridiculous and just impossible to follow along.
No track is worse for this than MVR. None

if harness racing is truly focused on expanding interest in the sport to a younger fan base .. then this old-style, cornpone style announcing has no place.  The audio needs today sizzle - decent between race music - and/or entertainment along the libnes of minor league baseball.  Every night should be an event.  For crying out loud, any single night at the front line tracks, there's a million dollar roster of athletes competing .. there's cast of driving professionals and behind the scenes experienced trainers and grooms.  Blend in a gate operator and outrider and just think of the players required every race day to put out such a terrific entertainment product.  Raceways and Horsemen Associations and State Racing Commissions really oughta leverage the product to promote a big, big fan base.  To me, a weekend of Huston on the microphone just doesn't measure up

Double edged sword.  Roger is not what he once was but he is still probably the best ambassador for the sport we have today.  You have to admire his work ethic even if you dont like him.  Sam McKee, rest his soul, was probably going to carry the torch, but I dont know who who is going to.  I'm not talking about race calling I'm talking about being a spokesperson.
