Whittemore busted ribs and collapsed lung was last update.

How about that announcer John Horne fucking dope never mentioned the accident, never warned the other drivers.

John Horne is a disgrace.   He’s out blaming HD tv for the issue.

Unless the horses are coming by the grandstand , the drivers cannot hear the announcer...even then it is difficult to hear.  The announcer has no authority.

The solution is obvious . The  starters car has a built in PA system.......that's how he calls the horsemen to the gate.  And at most tracks the starting car follows the race , with the starter as a patrol judge. Once the accident happens , the starter is already passing the situation.....and cannot make a call.

The Presiding judge has a direct link to the starter.........h e and the other judges can see the horse and driver down....or any other situation like loose horses.  They should then advise the starter to tell the drivers about the situation....as in "  horse and driver down at 1/2 mile pole"......or as happened recently at Pompano and Monticello....... ." horses down , loose horse..STOP RACING  its a No Contest"  The car is always right near the field of horses , so there is no problem of the drivers not hearing the announcement

The Vernon announcer has to be one of the worst announcers ever. I wonder if he has ever watched a harness race before he became an announcer.

As an example, he started one race yesterday by saying a horse"jumped out to the lead". Given that jumping is synonymous with breaking stride, one would think management,if they cared, would say something. His vocabulary is so limited, I wonder if he graduated elementary school.

Lucpark, if you listened to his calls, you would find plenty to criticize. I am not asking for perfection, but he is truly abominable.
