Beckwith personifies sports decline

Mark Beckwith's driving would have hall of fame drivers rolling over in their graves. The top drivers never looked behind them, they could hear a horse coming. The top drivers measured the wire winning by the least margin they could because the purse money was the same winning by a nose or twenty five lengths. They did this for the horse's health and courage. Horses stay braver if you fight them to the wire rather than asking for unnecessary speed at the end of the mile. He's a hot dog as the old-timers would say.

and if he gets caught at the wire, then he is cheating. Cross let one roll also, big deal. Instead teach the horse to slow down at the wire? Two sides to every coin.

anyone that really knows mark understands that he is a solid horseman and a giving person. he is always helpful and a gentleman. i agree with nj...sour grapes

Plus Mark is extremely generous . When he was down guys like Bouchard and Dube helped him out , he paid everyone back . Hard working guy .

He is a good horseman. Knows when to hold and when to fold. Bit of a cowboy reputation back in the day, he had some sad back history. Never questioned any drive for us about not trying/cheating.  Makes mistakes, yes, and he will admit it. Maybe not as sharp as he was, we all get old and lose a step or two. Always open to anyone who has a question on a horse issue.
