yes it is way to early
keep in mind that the greenshoes were so bad last year or did not race  that they were brought back early for the 3 year old season to make some money and see if they could be any good at all
it means nothing
check back in 2-3 months and if this holds than you have a story
but keep in  mind his first 2 books were full of wonderful mares so he would have to be a complete dud to not have a few good ones

Maybe the Greenshoes need time to mature as he was very headstrong and so are many of his offspring. But with a little patience and time they do look to have some talent.

Yeah I said it means nothing in the long run but at least Hanover can put an ad out right now saying "Breed to the top money earning sire of 3 year olds in 2024" and it wouldn't technically be a lie.  ngc3 ngc3

Good point -- shelved early in the 2yo season, ready to go early in 3yo campaign -- but are they going to be stakes worthy ?   Boom or Bust ??  Time will tell.

people spend top dollar for a yearling to race and earn as a 2 year old. Having a less than stellar  crop of 2 year olds is suicide for a top stallion. Granted, many of Greenshoe's 3 year olds will do well, if this crop of 2 year olds mirrors last year, he is doomed.

They threw the best mares around at him years 1 and 2 and really, he's done nothing of note with them so far. While it is still early, you'd like to see a standout somewhere and it's just not there yet. My guess is they will figure out what he crosses well with, and narrow it down and he will end up ok.

I feel sorry for anyone who ponied up 25k in stud fees for one, though. Hanover needs a sanity check leaving him there.

Some of the best mares + Big Money at sales + going to the best trainers ==> should not equal the results to this point...

Week one of Sires Stakes is over.  He managed a longshot winner in one of the higher money stakes and a first and second in one of the Stallion Series.

He's still first with a 30,000 lead on Father Patrick

Once the real stakes start that lead will disappear but at least Hanover can still make that ad about him being number one  tmbz1 ngc3

Many experts here said "Greenshoes are a flop"--it looks like he is on top of the list.

Greenshoe is a flop. Has anyone ever heard, “I’m so happy I bought a Greenshoe baby!”? I haven’t either.

Well, one thing you can say about him is he enabled some people who maybe don't have the deep pockets of the "elite" owners to pick up some really nice bred yearling. I'm sure some of them will come forward to be decent. But the breeders took an absolute bath on him.
