Now that Northville is officially closed.  What is the future of Michigan Stakes?

I would speculate without the races held by the Downs, the purses should increase across the board! Perhaps one of the more centrally located tracks can become the new place for the finals. Something like that would create another day of good racing for the community! It will take some planning by a couple level headed members to get the job done!

Fowlerville is a bigger fairs track and it has  betting capability. Its also within reach of the Detroit area.

I never thought Balmoral & Maywood would fall. Now all the tracks in Michigan too. This is not good for the sport in some ways...but helps in other ways. Many tracks have a horse shortage. The horses relocating will benefit the tracks they race at.

I hate the horse shortage fallacy.  We have a shortage of race secretaries that can protect cheap horse classes in a way that can make them break even or profitable.   How many tracks run a nw2-4 with a low claiming price?  How many put an earning cap on nw1500 or nw2500.  5 claimer nw2500 used to keep a lot of horses from going to the amish life.
