WHATS UP WITH GEORGE LUSTER IN RACE 9 NOT HAVING A WHIP ?????
NEVER SAW DRIVER NOT ALLOWED TO CARRY WHIP
-
Might be voluntary. I've seen it before on thoroughbreds. In the unusual instance where the horse reacts so adversely to the use of a whip it's agreed not to be carried to not spook the horse and cause a chain reaction. Natural inclination of the jock/ driver is to use whip in real tight race and trainer doesn't want the driver to get caught up in the moment, forget and whip. I don't know though; just one possibility

I called judges. Last post was spot on.

Why am I respondin.
In FLATS: A new apprentice in his or her first 5 mounts is not allowed to carry a whip.
Yes they have worked out plenty a horse, prior to actually bein in a race. But in workouts:NO ONE allowed a whip.
So for safety of others in race, they not allowed to carry whip. They got enough problems actually runnin against competition let alone carry a whip in one hand.
Even though they normally get a 10lb advantage, never bet them. If you do,they better be on the by far fastest horse in race,so's they can get lead. And 99% of that don't work. They end up breakin last.
