How many total infractions do you think Ron Burke has since 2008 when he took over?  How many postive tests since 2008?  How many positives did the old man get before 2008?  No one will guess these numbers!

Ron Burke has 101 infractions from Jan 1 2008 till now. I counted 15 positive tests in the timeframe.

Pocono is CLOSED for another month and they wait 5 months to finalize this? This is a blatant example of racing commissions NOT doing their job. Why was this not finalized in October BEFORE the Breeders Crown and then the TVG races? There is NO excuse for ANY medications to be in a horse's system and the people who are caught probably cannot pronounce the name of the very substance they are putting into their horses! ONLY health care PROFESSIONALS are LICENSED to administer drugs............ Glycopyrrolate (Robinul) is a quaternary ammonium salt which serves as a respiratory enhancing drug.

Yep for these big trainers with huge stables along with being owners on many of them never seem to get the days during stake season. They get a stay on the positive and it magically it appears in Dec or Jan that they have in deed have a fine and suspension. This is why this sport never will be mainstream, racing boards are feckless, trainers will do anything to gain a edge, and they get away with all of these because their is no fanfare to call it out. No other real sport with being the top athlete, highest paid coach, or GM, or owner would ha e all these infractions and not be pushed out. The con game is real and in harness racing to big to fail as it needs the FBI and years of investigations to catch some of the filthy fucks.

Bob Baffert records from 1979-1980 show 22 drug-related positives.  Burke Brigaid from 1986-2023 show 25 drug-related positives.  Let's be clear that Baffert has only 1 Lidocaine to Burkes 7 and Baffert has never been caught or accused of having Hypodermic Needles or Drug Paraphernalia like Burke.

And still get trainer of the year..
USTA has enough time to set guidelines for all of the end of the year awards! In an age of stipulations there should atleast be infractions to disqualify a candidate! Hot test and for drivers penalties for kicking or abusing the whip comes to mind!

Exactly--and the system is badly broken and needs to be overhauled promptly. I've said it before--Monopolies are never very good in any business.

here's a start and god knows it might even help the perception people have of the sport
a trainer may have one horse entered in a pari-mutuel race , a nw, sires stake, grand circuit, doesn't matter  only one horse

first off it eliminates any perception that drivers of horses trained by the same person might be helping each other

secondly it creates more opportunities for other trainers and owners and  that's a good thing, maybe trainers like burke and other with huge stables are forced to cut back

I like the idea but what to you do when you want to go buy 10 pacing colts for a sire stake program?  You automatically lose 9?

why dont the governing bodies require that horseman stable at  a facility goverened by the association. they can have 24 hour surveilance. racing horses should be a privelage not a right. if you want to race you sign a waiver to abide by the rules of the governing body. this will never happen because its what needs to happen.
