The track that is currently under construction in Nebraska is a Tbred track
-
Look at Yonkers, cal ex, Vernon, Tioga, etc. 6 horse fields, just what the better needs. Another Racetrack, no wonder the game is dead.
-
Where can we buy Nebraska breads for the sires stakes?
-
Why would any entity want to spend millions on a new harness track when every trend associated with the sport is negative? No live fans of any consequence, at any track, except on a special occasion like the Hambo. Horse population seems to be eroding. Drugging still going on. Makes no sense.

Hey Old Guy, pick me up a marble rye if you find out. tmbz1

Cal expo has no slots, so you know why purses are low there.
Vernon has slots but not much action due to turning stone a hop, skip, and a jump away.
At least Tioga has slots and decent purse money. Short fields make it better for owners, trainers, drivers, to make money.
Yonkers generally has full fields, fast horses and big purses. Add to the fact that you have some trainers that are better than others with interesting medical programs.

Monticello has slots, 5 miles away, and their purses still stink. Additionally the facility should be condemned.

Didn't they close the slots at Monticello, so it doesn't cannibalize their other bigger venture down the road?

It's a shame what happened to Monti. I remember going there on Saturday summer nights with that open grandstand and the warm breeze, lit up water fountain still working in multicolor between races. Sunday afternoons were great with full crowds on the weekends, all the local resorts bused people in and every seat was occupied in the clubhouse. double header cards on 4th of July with fireworks after the races and John Manzi puffing on his stogie thinking up new wacky contests.

Tioga purses sink for having a full blown casino and a short meet .

I remember watching Cam Fella in the Monticello Pace qualifier, I was like 12...very lackluster drive from Crowe got him beat by Bo Scots Blue Chip that day. Place was packed.

tmbz1Yep Joe Mineri strutting around. Bino selling equipment driving up the throughway with all kinds of shit strapped to his car. Dell's Comet wiring the field. Beautiful colored water fountains. Zeek wining 4-6 on the card. What happened???

What started the demise of Monticello Raceway was in 1978 when casinos opened up in Atlantic City. For decades the Catskill region exploded with visitors during the summer months. The people packed the hotels and bungalow colonies in all the surrounding towns. The businesses in towns like Monticello were thriving. Atlantic City brought in the excitement of real gambling, great restaurants, glitzy hotels and top notch entertainment. So instead of driving 90 miles north people turned their direction to the south. Today the entire Catskill region is like a ghost town. So many businesses closed. Broadway in Monticello died. The hotels all closed up. The fine restaurants that once were hard to get reservations are all gone. The Raceway’s clubhouse dining room that used to be packed closed. Fast forward to todays generation of gamblers and they do not want anything to do with a slow, corrupt sport called harness racing.
