Final 1/4 at Meadowlands cannot be correct. Races seem to be too fast. I recognize this is a sport few care about any longer. But, mistiming races is ridiculous.

“(Dexter) was sort of speechless,” trainer Noel Daley said after the race. “Jack (Darling) said the same thing, that (Bulldog Hanover) was pretty special; it’s just so easy. (Dexter) said it took a half-mile to pull him up tonight, too.”

Noel Daley oversees the Jack Darling-developed pupil, whom Darling co-owns through his Jack Darling Stables Ltd. with Brad Grant, during his residency in New Jersey. In taking his 19th win from 27 starts, not only did he elevate his account to $919,520, but he also became just the third horse in harness racing history to post a 1:46 mile. Always B Miki became the first at The Red Mile in 2016 and Lather Up the second at The Meadowlands in 2019.

“We take no credit — we got him 48 hours before his first start,” Daley said. “We’re just checking him over, that’s it; we’ve done nothing with him. He hardly trains, but they don’t need to when they go that quick.”

I've never seen last quarters as fast as they have been lately.  Sub 25 seconds seems unreal.

thoroughbred times haven't increased in 30 years and Secretariat's Belmont Stakes record still stands, back then harness racing was at 2.00 and a 1.58.4 mile was incredible, now 1.46 and most people don't care

when will we see a 1.44.4 mile?

a horse can go a mile in 1:40 and it won't get any new people to watch.. there's no interest from youth .. just enjoy watching if it interests you..

Todays standardbred is far superior to horses even 30 years ago.  Yes, they really do go that fast.  Much better genetics that turn over quickly.  Did you ever think you'd see trotters going under 1:50?  Two year old pacers under 1:50?  Jug heads and poor gaited horses are nearly a thing of the past...but thouroughbreds are still breaking down....

A horse - super fast horse is one thing

But when you have a dozen horses all of a suddent pacing out of their mind.  Making 47 and 46 easy -- all of a sudden.... Horses that have been going in 48 and 49, then --- WHATS UP ?

Times mean nothing today, nobdy time trials anymore. These things are monsters. There aren't any bad bred horses now. Training has changed, bikes have changed, track surface has changed, most drivers of top caliber horses are the top tier. But remember the check doesn't say world record. Remember the days of, just go enough to get the job done.

Yes I do. Buddy Gilmour never won by more than a neck. He was saving some for the next start. No need to save anything today. The next start will be taken care of in the Fed Ex delivery.
