A lot of trainers, especially horsemen who are highly organized and wealthy, will show a lot of bounced checks for $25. This does not mean they are deadbeats or broke. If you look at all these fines you will see the names of very famous people for bounced $25 checks. This happens VERY OFTEN because many horsemen use an accounting technique where they put license money (petty cash) into a separate account. It's something they do but when someone bounces a check to them ( which is often) it creates a cascade of events that make checks bounce. It happens constantly. Almost all these bounced checks are for fingerprints or license renewals. Since the check don't pop up until a week later the racing office gets to put up these fines. Jay Randall is not hard up for 25 bucks. Take my word for it. It's just a thing and is the most common fine of all. Yonkers has the most because they now have to refuse cash payments because the judge was pocketing the cash. Credit cards are 100 years into the future for racing officials. The thing that pisses me off the most is not that checks bounce, it's that losers on here comb through fines and suspensions to look for gossip. What the fuck does it matter to you who bounces a check? Why do you spy and look for trouble? Get a hobby, asshole.
