The SBOANJ would like to inform horsepeople of a miscommunication between the Meadowlands and the SBOANJ regarding the 1% payment to horses finishing 6-10.
The payment will be honoured again for the Friday and Saturday program this week and will not be implemented going forward
ISNT IT ABOUT TIME FOR HYMIE TO GIVE HIS STATE OF HARNESS RACING SPEECH? WE ALL NEED A GOOD LAUGH AND THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GURAL ALWAYS PROVIDES THAT.
DID ANYONE ATTEND THE MANDATORY DRIVERS MEETING? I HAD TO TAKE A SHIT AND MISSED IT.... DAMN

The Meadowlands will honor the wishes of the SBOANJ and at their direction discontinue the one percent of the purse paid to horses finishing out of the money (sixth to last) in all races.

Why? Doesn't it mean that money is put back where it belongs in the first place? And if you're relying on being paid 6-10 that often chances are you need to head south to Freehold where you might make some money.

It simply means the SBOA and M1 are confident in the horse population for the meet and, don't need to incentivise the entries.

Fair enough, but in making this communication they should have indicated what will happen to the money previously earmarked for 6-10th place finishers.

$10,000 purse - 1% = $100.00 x 5 = $500.00 Total.
$100.00 to the people that don't get any purse money helps cover some of the cost for shipping & paddock.
Most of the time these owners and trainers are the small time operations.

I thought they did. It goes back to the 1-5 place, 50-25-12-8-5% splits.
