Ill admit-I had thought removing the passing lane would create more flow and make racing more exciting--I was wrong-dead wrong.
Racing is now worse--- if thats possible.
Its now easier for drivers to set up races and the Indian file is exactly the same.
Gamblers now bet LESS-because too easy for horses sitting on the fence to get trapped-so automatically cant win when they go to the inside.
Remove it--and lets move on.Experiment over.
Try a slanted gate and bring back the passing lane-and work out something better for the bettors please..

Absolutely right...much easier to set up races when you know the horse sitting 3rd on the wood has no chance.
-
passing lane is the WORST thing that ever happened to harness racing
-
Every track has a passing lane, pull on the right line to use it.
-
half mile racing she be be abolished...it is gross and a thing of the past.....nobody bets on half miles......It is a joke passing lanes stink too...Better on a 7/8 or flat mile....my opinion
-
Not true, Northfield Park routinely handles a million dollars a night.
-
passing lane created a lot of drop to the rail and wait. its just a different race style with a passing lane.
-
Actually....EVERY ONE is wrong......
YOu need to bring back the hub rail........and bring back true
handicapping..... .
Yonkers freaked the whole thing up when they took out the hub rail....
and banked the turned so horses could slingshot....
that is where I stopped winning.....and STOPPED BETTING...
like all the old school YR guys...they went to Tbreds....

Winky, you better hope John Frank, Army of 1, gets to you first ,before the Ass Cancer I just willed upon you and your family does

Total Handle: $386,009 12 races
more reason for mgm to get rid of racing
AS LONG AS THE HORSEMEN ARE GETTING THEIRS, I DONT GIVE A SHIT IF WE BAND GAMBLING ALL TOGETHER. DEGENERATES ARE LOSERS TO BEGIN WITH AND ARE EXTREMELY JEALOUS OF HORSEMEN ACTUALLY MAKING A GREAT LIVING WITHOUT THEM

52xc.2 would be a better action
As nothing would keep the dump from being
The most boring racing on the planet

With numbers as bad as those with only Americans betting, it shows just how successful the France-Yonker partnership has been handle wise, over a million last Sundae
Perhaps we should start at 6am to get a whole card in before darkness sets in over in wine country. That has my blessing

How about a slow half rule? That is ruining racing for the gambler. Line ups with slow half at most tracks these days. The biggest handle track is northpuke and there is VERY RARELY a line up. Always balls to the wall there. Is that why people bet it so much? Bettors think they are given a shot every race?

tmbz1 + the lineups are causing the handle to plummet especially with no passing lane. 1-2 leavers-get to the top back it down-backmarkers have 0 shot.
Look at the scratchings--every night the 7-8 posts have scratchings as waste of time/effort/money-going around for 0.
1) GET SLANTED GATE
2) BRING BACK PASSING LANE
3) GIVE 300$ EVERY NIGHT TO EVERY HORSE DRAWING THE 8 HOLE (EXCEPT IN HANDICAPS).
4) MAKE 29 SECONDS THE SLOWEST SECOND 1/4 ALLOWED.
5) MOVE THE FINISHING POST BACK WHERE IT WAS ALLOWING MORE STRETCH RUN
6) LET THE FIELD GO 50 YARDS AT LEAST BEFORE THE WINNING POST.DO LIKE POCONO AND MAYWOOD--HAVE THE CAR GO FAST AS SOON AS YOU HIT THE STRETCH SO WHEN YOU GET 50 YARDS BEFORE THE WINNING POST YOU LET THEM GO.

Like these suggestions except #4! A difference of more than 11 lengths between the 1st and 2nd quarters should be automatic penalty! Example: go 1st quarter in 27 then anything slower than 56.1 to the half is going to cost you! Nobody, bettors, owners, trainers, etc. want to be mathematically eliminated at the half!

There is a 3 second 2nd quarter rule at the meadows but it's to slow. 27 1st quarter up to 29.4 2nd quarter. Palone is the master. Jams until just before the half then sprints down the backside. Race over. Very bad for the everyone except burke who has palone 90% of the time. Maybe he can try for 25mil a year.

tmbz1 tmbz1 tmbz1 Its mathematically impossible for a horse who is in its right class-to give leaders 10L start at the half which has been backed down with this ridiculous BS that most drivers do when they hit the front-as thats how to win the race on a 1/2 or 5/8.*bartlett, Palone,George NAP --major perpetrators.
That is all fine and dandy for the leading drivers-who get to pick the best post +best horse, send it down the road and win--but this STIFLES BETTING AND ELIMINATES 2-3 HORSES EVERY RACE.
Kills handle but the administrators dont care-as long as they get their cut.
-
Talked to a few horsemen and they say something HAS to be done about this stupid 7-8 hole situation if they allow the leading drivers to get away with slow fractions esp the second 1/4.Its killed betting on outside posts in nearly every race.
If this rule was in place-it would eliminate the scratching of the 8 horse and make for fairer racing .
Drivers dont try out of the 8 hole on 99% of occasions anyway-so at least the next week with the rail-they get a chance to make money.
just sayin.

maybe 6 furlong races is the way to go on the half mile tracks

After watching the races this past Saturday, no need to bring back the passing lane. All the drivers move over anyway. Even 1st over guys mover as well. Good purses. Bad gambling
-
I have watched many races at Yonkers since they have eliminated the passing lane. The funny thing is that in some races the front driver bears out to the right creating a passing lane when he hits the top of the stretch. I have seen this happen several times but i cant attribute it to race manipulation at this point. My guess is that driver on front end knows his horse is beat and lets room for driver in second to have a chance. Maybe its something between the riders ever since passing lane was taken away.

Horses will bear out in the stretch when they tire.

horses at yonkers dont tire, they are gassed, its on the drivers to let others up the rail
