After the horsemen and management met last Friday to solve their tuck rule, learning back rule, and half in-half out rule, a new rule was added as a compromise. These rules sole purpose is to add integrity to racing and help the handle.

ALL HORSES WILL BE WEIGHED SIMILARLY TO HOW IT IS DONE IN OTHER COUNTRIES. THE WEIGHT WILL BE LISTED IN THE PROGRAM . WITH A 10% VARIANCE EITHER UP OR DOWN FROM THEIR INITIAL BASE WEIGHT, THE HORSE WILL BE SCRATCHED.

IF THE HORSE HAS A 15% VARIANCE, THE TRAINER WILL BE FINED.  THE NEW ABBREVIATION ON THE USTA CHARFTED LINES FOR THE SCRATCH WILL BE SCRATCHED FH ( FAT HORSE)

They tried that at Freehold many years ago and it was a catastrophe. The weights were so off, and horses were showing ups and downs of over 100+lbs week to week! For one thing you couldn't get them to stand still long enough to get a correct weight. What's going to be different now?

Would lasix horses weight not drop after administration too?

I've been told by a few vets that 25-45lbs is about normal.

A huge % of horses fall in the 1000-1200 lb range, A 10% rule would put the weight loss at 100-120 lbs,. These smaller weight losses and losses from lasix were factored in to go with 10%. Weighing the horse is not a problem at all. These scales have all been updated. Clinics all use them.

Just more rules to play with a level playing field.

Maybe start with accurate driver weights for those tracks that list.  I seem some drivers listed at 170 and they haven't seen that since high school  ngc3 ngc3

Absolutely correct Lucpark the lunatics have taken over the aysylum. How about they address the race fixing in the amateur racing first and foremost . Secondly if these assholes are fixing amateur races what is to say they are not race fixing any other racing

Its been a while so i can't remember which track it was but they went through a phase of listing the drivers weights. They didn't weigh us or anything, they just asked. And if you didn't get  back to them by the time the program went to print they just put down 150. Some of those guys were well over 200.

It's not as big a deal as jockeys obviously,  but it does factor in. But you also don't want some 110 pound stick arm trying to handle a hot head.
