Title: Mohawk Thursday
Post by: whiptherabbit on March 07, 2019, 07:42:30 AM
Race#5-#10 Down On My Luck 6-1 Despite drawing outside where horses are under 2% for winning, I'll take a stab on him in here. First start Under PS from Dustin was a monster effort, just watch the replay. Ideal jet will be 6-5 or worse in here, if McNair can pick up positions off the gate, he should launch late.

Race#8-#5 Odd Ball 5-1 Debuts for Vander Champ and qualified well. He's in pretty damn cheap & if prior history dictates future result MV will have him primed.

Is this the trotter Dunbar had at WEG previously??

Best of luck  tmbz1

Whip, yes it is I was told this horse has been in a few barns
And Dunbar seemed like only guy who could do any good with him
So maybe beware

But if jet allowed to run slow on front with no pressure will be tuff to beat but I like thinking also vandercamp changes horses for the better

Like the vandercamp horse - these on barn change for first or second (when they don't win first out) start are an autoplay to win for me. A few do seem to break so I only play to win.

Also taking a shot with 3 tragically zip in 4th. Goes from low percentage Hudon barn to Boyd barn which is on fire. No shot last race from 10 post and tossing that this would be second start in claimer for 4 yr old.

Good luck.

Rabbit I agree with race #5 and you might be on to a ready horse with Vander  Champ. He has in the past turned a sows ear into a gold purse.

Unfortunately his money seems to be down when he's got a good one going.

An interesting one to watch that's also in the (not bet more than likely unless it's at least 50-1) is the 9 Spectre. Note that Charalambos Christoforou retains ownership but Per is now trainer of record. As many know, Per is also notoriously good at getting poorly gaited ones going.  Curious to see if he just gets a clean line or actually makes a move. Always seems to jump when on the move. Remember Chris almost won with this horse but it jumped in the stretch.

It's great seeing all the comments coming on here way before post time. A couple i penned in the last week ended up being in Rozema's longshot plays of the night, hopefully he stays away tonight.

Mr.Dalrae : I agree that Vander Champs steed will be bet down, I think he's still worth it at even 2-1 but nothing lower. I can't see Down On My Luck being anything less then 6-1 from out by the fence. He needs a trip for sure but he went huge at Flammy.

Anyhow gents, hopefully everyone makes some scratch.  tmbz1

What do u guys think about race #4  #10 allrok I seen that one other tracks run huge good qually a final time, same trainer had big winner last week from the 10hole first time starter .anyways could be there at odds with some luck and a couple get burned on duel on the lead if 5th on turn could run biggy if positioned

Looked a bit more at the card.

Race 3 VERO AMORE BI 4/1 ml. Second off claim for Gallucci, favored against conditioned trotters but jumped. Gallucci puts him right back in for a tag and gets reunited with Henry. Only making 5th start of year so hoping conditioning is going to be better here. #5 and #7 figure to take a good amount of money so I'm pegging #3 as 3rd choice or longer.

Also curious about Tragically Zip--one that Hornby mentioned. Probably going to be a pass for me because of price but on paper the driver change alone SHOULD be a huge positive. Have seen Hudon pieces not go forward after leaving barn. (Believe there was one with 'Joe' in the name that went to Moreau and didn't do much a few months ago).

Race 10 #6 Fixed Idea 5/1 ml. Thinking price might actually be around ml here. 3 others inside should take money. Only drive of the night for Renaud and only starter for trainer. This duo has popped with some massive miles before too. This one absolutely blitzed in last start and if pace gets hot up front this one will be motoring home.

I like the 6 here in the 5th.

This trainer (Nick Boyd) isn't related to Rod (winning ng trainer in previous race) is he?

Pick 5 win prices

$3.20
$8.70
$9.70
$4.90
$3.10

$1 PICK 5 (4-6-7-3-9) paid 1791.65

What's the $1 parlay?  Something like $160?

$8.70
$9.70
$4.90

$ opportunities in wagering are with p4,5, 6 and supers.

The horse making this sequence pay I would hazzard is the 6 in the 2nd. That was a short but competive field.  That gelding was making second lifetime start and had run a respectable but hardly impressive start in his prior. Belonged more @ ml price of 8-1 or higher imho. Eligible to improve but not logical as second choice.

I went four deep in that leg of p5 and didn't use him.

That the horse was just over 3-1 was not taken as a good sign prerace by me as to my chances.

I'm a suspicious wagerer and this race looked funky to me. 6 went to the top and wasn't pressured.

P5's at mohawk are more likely to appear funky on Mondays and Thursdays.

Still a great payoff for those for those who had the sequence.

Couple of betdowns from M/L price helped the sequence.
