Title: Ohio Super Night at Northfield
Post by: marsh99 on August 28, 2019, 01:28:57 PM
Nice to see a 16 race card on super night. Especially when you consider that the track with the worst on time starts and the longest snore-fest between races is now hosting the biggest night of the year for Ohio. Granted, they do have a grandstand that probably won't fall down and kill all the fans like Scioto, but why put 2 hours of races before the finals that could very well have been raced Saturday or even after the finals? The last Sire Stakes Final is scheduled to go off at 10:20 pm so it will be awesome to watch that one start around midnight. I'm worried that even the horses are going to fall asleep before the races are over :)

In one of the races, trainer Beaver has 6 of the 8 starters.... and none of them are the likely chalk.

Worst OSS Final Card in history of the stakes, Nfl1/2 shot it's wad on the Milsuck and don't have any money for a decent overnight card. They have to run it on Sunday to get any handle play on all there 1/9 shot's. :1

By the way USTA is shut down Friday for computer maintenance so they can all get a 4 day weekend. 96z.p

As usual Ptomaine Tomar is wrong about the usta being closed on Friday. Business as usual on Friday

It’s a great card of racing. The 2 yr old colt pace is going to be a helluva race with Elver Hanover, Can B perfect, Ocean Rock. Looking forward to seeing looksgoodinarompe r in the filly pace. She got a tough trip last time at Northfield but is the best filly. Giggles in dreams may very well upset Queen of pride in 3 yr old filly race. Bllack Hole in 3 yr old colt race has had his health issues but is looking to go 6 for 6 this yr. Rock Candy doesn’t appear right but Yankee Boots will be a handful. The open pace is pretty strong too with 5,6,7,8 all having a big shot to win. In the 2 yr old colt trot it’s academic may blow up early.

They didn't have a starting gate.  One the breaks went out the other the rear end went out.  Watch the start of the 11th race gate didn't close hit outside fence.

2 Questions
How long will Northfield milk the clock tonight between races?

How much purse money will Burke win?  Over or Under $500,000? 15za.bd

You can fire up your computers at 9pm and not missed a thing. ngc3

1.  There will be 8-9 minutes after the clock hits zero...which is what it is 95% of the time for all their races.
2.  I have it at about $450,000...so I say below...but that is a good question.
3.  There are quality races before the stakes competition fires up.

Which one Bob? (good to see u on the board)

R4--#8 B Like Cruiser...interes ted to see if this talented 3 yr old can handle this field from P8.
R5--Open Trot...track master rating of 92.
R6--Open Pace...track master rating of 96!...that is a handicapped post draw.

then R7 the stakes start...

Maybe the higher purse races will have a decent pool? First few races have averaged 8k in the win pool. Embarrassing.

Ya guess you are right. Saratoga handle continues to be over a million a race so the sport of kings stills has decent pools while these slot infueled shit harness tracks (which is all besides meadowlands and woodbine) continue to struggle. Embarrassing.

With losers like you as racing fans, the sport will never have a chance
I am sure anything you touch, turns to a pile of shit in no time flat

no need to reply...that is all he is looking for...fuel to his fire.

4-1 in a $8000 win pool....and 4-1 in a $30000 pool...both pay $10.

Yup they sure do. Good at math I see. THERE IS A REASON REAL BETTORS PLAY INTO A LARGE POOL. If you aren't smart enough to realize that then your loss.

you are just plain stupid...your comment was about the win pool....it was NOT about "large pools"...not about pick 3/4/5 pools.

Like there are tons of people wagering hundred of dollars To Win on horses anyways...If you aren't smart enough to realize that is not happening then your loss.

Minus drivers percentage.   Stake payments starting fees 4-5 trucks to get there not counting 15 grooms warm up people it’s not 400 k   So much more stall rent  vet blacksmith equipment  initial investment on horses    Big risk. But big award I give my hats off to Ronnie running a operation this size    For all of you that bitch just try and manage one then times it by 200. Not a easy job
