He will actually be at Northfield for the entire card tomorrow night, with a possibility of winning ten races. Dan Noble cannot even outmaneuver him there, though Noble did have the two winners of the money races on Saturday night sufficiently prepared to prevail.
-
Danny has to be the hottest driver in the country right now. Only thing is, he can go from hot to ice cold. Aaron is just a consistently great driver. On track for another 1000 win year.
-
They remind me somewhat of Bill O’Donnell just before he landed at Meadowlands when he moved into Saratoga Harness and would win 5 races in a row regularly, like AM did one night last week. JP Morel, Percy Davis, Dan Wilsey, Bert Belanger et al. didn’t know what hit them. However, whereas Bill then went on to conquer The Big M, neither AM nor DM could equivalently make noise at Mohawk or Yonkers.

"consistently GREAT driver"...if Aaron Merriman is considered a consistently GREAT driver, then this game is in much bigger decline at a much faster rate, than we all thought. He may be good at best. He Is a Medows misfit, and beats up on a very very poor driver colony @ Northfield. Do you ever watch him @ Scioto, he gets his ass handed to him on a regular basis there when he shows up!!
-
That was my point, AM could never replicate the success of a Bill O’Donnell, who similarly took advantage of a weak Spa driver colony back in the day, but then subsequently proved himself on the then most talented stage, at the Meadowlands.

Agreed. “Great” and Aaron Merriman should not be in the same sentence.
-
Lol, I was going to say “excellent” but downgraded it to great. I can only imagine your responses then. Buy ya know, I would think you bunch of degenerate gamblers would appreciate Aaron who gives 100% effort every time out there. I would much rather him drive for me than guys like Sears or Tim Tetrick who can only bother to make an effort if the horse is perfectly haired and looks like he should be the best.
Beyond that I don’t understand how you guys refuse to give any credit to a guy who is the dash leader year after year. It’s just sad that all most of you can do is spew negativity

no talent,gas and go
-
By the looks of it... 11 or 12 is a VERY real possibility. And.... R Wrenn is there as well !!! Dominant !!
-
prolly wont win a ckean race this year
-
he just stiffed Uncle Buck in the 11th,total 100% TRAVESTY,did not want to win,no excuses accepted,no,i did not bet
-
He is an average major league hitter playing his career in AA minor leagues. Of course his numbers will look good. I don't blame him at all because he's making plenty of cash but he is far from a great driver. He just beats up on very weak competition.

R Wrenn Jr. being " there" was been proven to be NO BIG DEAL whatsoever! Another like Merriman, makes a good like being an average driver, but knowing where he can make his cash. Nothing wrong with that, but not exactly one of the big boys. He too gets his ass handed to him at Scioto when he goes, unless he's on tons the best.

Thats the truth. He might make Sluggo, Stahl and the gang look stupid @ Cleveburg on a nightly basis but he dont do that shit on Scd, Dayton, Mvg circuit.

100% Correct
Point, shoot and hold on...is NOT talent

Point, shoot and hold on...is NOT talent
I beg to differ. There is some form of talent involved in that. Any of us who have tried to be drivers have tried to fire one up and “point” em. I, for one, couldn’t even do that part well. Which is why I’m not a driver, lol. So yeah, making speed is a big part of driving. It’s like power pitchers and fineness pitchers in baseball.
That being said, I still believe that Aaron is a very good all around driver. He’s not just a one trick pony, he can win from off the pace as well.

Pat Berry would dominate that driving colony.
-
To occasionally be on par with the greatest of all time, Dave Paloan is no small feat. And Aaron is a humble sort. The hardest working man in harness racing, next to yours truly.
-
HEY MELISSA, DIDNT AARON USED TO GO DEAD FOR FRED?
THAT WAS THE WORD, GOOD THING THOSE CELL PHONE RECORDS LIKE THOSE FROM HAWK WERENT DEMANDED BY OFFICIALS, OR YOUR NEVER ENDING CRYING WOULD HAVE ANOTHER CHAPTER ON HOW THEY WERE OUT TO GET YOU.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
-
I mentioned O’Donnell, but said that while O dominated Saratoga Harness prior to going to Big M, the way AM dominates Northfield, AM could never impact Mohawk or Yonkers the way O conquered Meadowlands. I was saying AM is not at all comparable to O.
-
Different times different era! Like comparing apples to oranges! To say AM has no talent is totally ludicrous and underscores the difficulty of driving winners! I always maintained a certain amount of respect for Pigland but dementia must be setting in!

Cause no Chris Lems there tonight. Chris has mixed up the driving colony.

How many starts has he had? I'll reserve my judgement on Mr lens till end of the meet. Granted he hasn't looked too bad tmbz1

Watch every night, then let me know what you truly think. One night is a rather SMALL SAMPLE. Or better yet go watch some replays of the nights he has been there the last month, then speak your opinion. tmbz1

I do watch often maybe not every night. Yes he's not there every night so he doesn't get the drives that Danny Chris and jeremy does. But when he is there if u look at the lines he has a tendency to pick a horse up. Sorta like tony hall. Look at the success the man has at THREE tracks at the same time!!!! Just think if he concentrated at 1 track.

He IS great. He's always out to win or get a cheque - not a cheater. His hands and his reading of a race are just fine, thank you. His gruelling morning til night drive-aholic routine is unparalleled. He doesn't do particularly well at Scioto or Miami Valley, etc. because he doesn't get the hot horses there. After the long morning drive from Cleveland, he looks great against a decent driver colony at The Meadows. Brett Miller didn't exactly dominate there. On the rare occasions that he's showed up at The Meadowlands, he hasn't embarrased himself. And he's SMART enough to make a very good living where he is, rather than to relocate to the horrible big city somewhere to butt egos with the greats. Sylvain Filion used to toy with a fairly weak group in Montreal. When he got to Toronto, he was past his prime, but still looked pretty good. In his prime, Merriman could have easily been a top three driver anywhere, possibly number one.

A Rod is a full second better then any driver at Nfld. Allard I forgot is there now. So 2 drivers a second better then the rest
-
A Rod 2 wins and a second out of his first 3 tonight so far
-
Aaron works his ass off to make money god bless America. Danny is great when his juice is working. He is a great driver but his training stats are unusual
-
aaron has very little talent

Yeah and your a prodigy!

Aaron dominates a C track. That doesn't make him great.

Agreed. “Great” and Aaron Merriman should not be in the same sentence.

let me see your win / loss statement then tell me how good he is
-
Aaron wins a lot of races no matter how he does it. But what is interesting to me is that According to his interview multiple trainers want him to go east. I’m not saying that is for everyone and yes I’m aware he has children but why not go East and make same cash and work 1/2 as hard. Yes he wins a shit ton of races but not ever top in money
-
let me see your win / loss statement then tell me how good he is
I have read your thoughts on leading drivers of Trace and Aaron. Who do you think are good drivers? Who would you use as your driver at NFLD if you had horses racing there?
-
Aaron is as good as anybody in the sport. Whats out east? the Meadowlands is a b track. Aaron can drive circles around Jordan Stratton or Matt Kakaley. who other than David Miller , Yannick Gingras or Tim Tetrick are better than Aaron or Ronnie Wrenn. Maybe Jason Bartlett, thats it,
-

Ok let’s not put Wrenn in same conversation as Aaron. Aaron dominates Wrenn but I would like to see Aaron at Yonkers and PCD see how he would fair
-
Wrenn is no where near Aaron
-

Ha, that's funny, HIS 'win statement ' is all that matters, not mine and it's pretty impressive.

Geeze, he's only 40, he has plenty of time to go wherever he wants, apparently what he's doing now fits him just fine, he keeps this rate he passes Palone , it doesn't matter where the wins come from....
-
Wrenn is no where near Aaron
I used to believe that but not anymore.
-
Why all the hate for Aaron? He works his ass off and does well. Chooses to race in Ohio and Pennsylvania and makes good money. Guy won over 1000 races two years in a row. Not an easy task no matter where you race.
