Driving for a big suspect barn is an immense help. It keeps his confidence up. There are not many bad nights.
Is Gringras hard on horses? I say yes...but speed wins the most in today's game. As a bettor many years ago i loved first time Yannick.
Why did Takter & Burke fight over Yannick the Pinkman/Mission Brief year? Gringras choose off Pinkman & got the drive back. HUH?
IMO Tetrick, Miller, Dunn, Zeron, & Sears all take better long term care of the horse.

You cannot compare the money earned vs drives done to make it.
Why?
The purses nowadays are much better than what they were years ago, so it is not an apples v apples comparison.
End of story.

This should bring Fuguzzi hate out of the wings...

Was doing some research after I mentioned in a thread that Yannick is on a trajectory to be the all time average earnings per start leader in the history of the sport and (possibly) all time money earner. Of course, i was told i am crazy and Yannick sucks and lives off Burke and all that. All of that is subjective babble open to debate, but here are the figures which don't lie and can't be twisted.

* Yannick - fastest driver to $200 million in purses in history.
* There are 7 drivers in history including Yannick who have $200 million plus in purse earnings. He is the youngest.
* The number of drives it has taken him to accomplish vs that of his peers is astonishing...

Campbell $299 million.....62,000 drives
Miller      $278 M............69,000 drives
Tetrick     $265 M............67,500 drives
Y. Gingras $225 M............48,500 drives  15 to 20 thousand fewer drives to crack the most exclusive club in racing is amazing
Pierce       $215M.............67,000 drives
Sears        $213 M............55,000 drives - very notable accomplishment
Brennan    $202M.............70,000 drives

We should all "suck" so bad ;D

Not completely true. The entire list drove at the BigM regularly where the purses were huge, plus many races in the past had larger purses some 2 million like the Woodrow Wilson. Breeders Crown goes back to early 90s, so that knocks that arguement out

Now if you are talking about lower rung drivers at smallerl tracks where the purses are obscene and do not reflect handle, I completely agree.

woodrow went 2 mil once i believe and the avg purse is not even close.  The point I'm making is you are talking about Yannicks avg purse.  I'm saying every driver on that list has 10k drives where they were learning or driving for fair money.  Yannicks 10K first drives were for 10x the money so his avg is crazy.  He doesn't have 10k garbage drives like the others.  Make it fair and add 10k starts to him and keep the money the same and see what happens.

Campbell     $299,892,141.00    61887    $4,845.80
Miller          $278,331,635.00    69236    $4,020.04
Tetrick        $265,035,315.00    67652    $3,917.63
Y Gingras    $225,017,139.00    58466    $3,848.68 - with 10k extra drives
Pierce        $215,343,077.00    67034    $3,212.45
Sears           $213,727,011.00    55318    $3,863.61
Brennan     $202,850,465.00    70293    $2,885.78

I've really delved deep into these numbers or as much as I could because USTA has limited capabilities with there data.  If you look at all the top ten drivers in history and look at there wins in major stakes (triple crown races, Breeders Crown, and 500K plus races) you will see something very glaring.  All Yannicks wins in these type races are one way.  Front end and on the hammer.  IMO that's not driving, that's getting behind one and praying he's the best on that day.  How many of those horses that lost could have won with someone else?  I can name about 3-4 Hambo's off the top of my head where he had by far the best horse and found a way to lose.

Great drivers find a way to win ala Ron Pierce making magic out of nothing sometimes or John Campbell sitting parked with Life Sign and winning.  David Miller has made so much magic it's hard to pick one.  They all have except one - YG!  Name one time he won a major not as fav or co-fav?

There is no way to compare purse money. Hell I was making $20 an hour in 93   Thought I was rich. $46 now and not so sure
The amount of money earned by J.C. and  R.P. would be 2-3 times more today. Those guys drove alot of overnights for less than 4k purses! Not to mention there was alot more "racing one easy"

You wanna try to compare Yanick to Campbell just watch the Jug yesterday then watch Life Sign. Yanick has 1 plan going in live or die the greats can adjust to circumstances and adapt
So true, that was an embarrassing drive on Yannicks part.  This is the weak link in regards to Yannick.  He seems to have lapses where he drives like his pussies on fire.  On another note, I walked up on the Big Guy behind the scenes while he was berating Yannick prior to thursday card at Delaware.  Not sure what exactly it was about but I actually felt sorry for Yannick. Big Guy must be a nice guy to work for.....
