claiming races with tags for 100k-250k. What are the biggest claiming races today? What purse money would you need to have a big tag claiming races today?
-
I do remember plenty of 50/75k claiming handicaps as well as 100/125/150k I remember at YR?RR you could move an 18 up to the 22s with a chance a good 33 could move up and beat the 40s but 12500 to 15 seemed like a tough jump especially for the mares some of the toughest overnight claimers raced at the 27k level

"Depending on the track, a horse may be entered anywhere from $5,000 to as high as $150,000."

Maybe they're only talking about NA, maybe Europe, Asia....much higher?

That horse stepped out of nowhere. One minute he's nw or moderate classes at Yonkers/RR the next he wins the Jug. I shook my head for weeks.

So years ago, because of the speed of the game it was horsemanship [Changing hobble lengths, other equipment], while today it is better feed and other 'nutrients'?
