Title: Oddsless harness racing
Post by: Larry Bird Boy on June 17, 2023, 01:13:31 AM
This is gonna sound crazy so go ahead and curse me horseploppers. I would like to be able to bet on a harness race without any odds being posted until the gate folds and then the tote board displays the odds. I know it’s a crazy but I’m crazy enough to bet on it like that.

That would be nice.  Some of these small tracks are ridiculous.  I've had horses go from 4-1 to 4-5 in the last click.  That's crazy!

It’s not just small tracks. I’m starting to like betting sports more. When I place a 5 or 6 team parlay I know exactly what my payout is before the games start.

How about wagering ends at post time and the starting gate does not move until after post time.

That would solve a lot of problems but the greedy fuckers that don’t care about the average players don’t want to lose those big bets that come in after the start.

I much prefer sports betting.  Harness racing doesn't get much of my money anymore.

Many years ago, I believe it was Freestate that tried a thing called "redraw at post time".

Where the starting Post positions were redrawn right before they went behind the gate!

Betting numbers stayed the same but starting postion changed for most.

That was a disaster!

That's the down under way of doing things.  I for one agree, I'm so sick and tired of a horse being a bettable price as they are coming to the gate and then getting pounded to a price I never would have bothered with.   People in NJ had it good for a couple years with Betfair Exchange but even that didn't catch on and went bye bye.

New Jersey, especially The Meadowlands doesn't know how to promote anything. It could be because everyone there works for minimum wage and they just don't care.

All wagering MUST STOP 90 seconds before the marshall calls the field to the gate. Pools are frozen, all moeys settled and guaranteed final prices are locked in. then  the horses assemble and the man says go

And re-open for recalls?

What about late scratches?

Won't happen.

Can we at least get the windows to lock when the race goes off ?
I get ridiculed when I say they stay open at Lexington and that is a FACT.

Dont be ridiculed   old days at rockingham you could still bet at certain windows at the quarter      regardless seeing odds and prices still change at the half looks terrible to the average bettor and should never happen with todays technology

Remember when I called the Meadows a couple weeks ago and got advisement...recall-they still went, STOP Button (Close Mutual Pools)-didn't work....race went off and ended and refunded!   ngc3

I remember some tellers at Yonkers could cancel a ticket after the race immediately went off - taking more bets no, but cancelling an incorrect tic it happened for me and others, a very short window of time but true!  tmbz1

I'll climb the Appalachian mountains from Lexington, find the 2 headed inbred-godfather who really runs the state of KKKentucky, and go www3 on a pack of inbred savages to find out.  ngc3

I'll make a call when they're open for biz and get clarification...I'd say let's bet too during the live race if an adw allows and it won't stop!  ;D

Definitely Inbred, but not on its face,  Joe Costa, President & CEO at The Red Mile.

Owner though - Lexington Trots Breeders Association (September 28th, 1875)

Then...the Hambletonian Society and the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission

You are absolutely right   There was a guy downstairs clubhouse at YR   Looked like Mickey Rooney so everyone called him Mick
When i was betting for an owner who had an "in" to Joe Marsh, he did this for me many times. You are good, Senator
